Here we are after a three month slog.

Dan81 and Thumper are the survivors in Perth Racing's tipping championship.

One is new to Perth Turf Talk, a forum virgin. The other a long serving member and the 52nd user ever registered with the website that is 10 years old and has over 3,400 accounts.

Regardless the stakes are high and they'll be even higher for the eventual winner; who will be rewarded the free bet of a life time to secure major riches with PUNTA. The runner-up won't go home empty handed either.

Good luck to both participants. May the king finally be crowned.

So that's the last we hear from Dan until the next comp?

Congratulations to the victor but disappointing that many enter the competition but they don't contribute to the forum.

    Why do you disagree Gary?

Strangely enough, there's probably a lot of people that don't post on here because of their own reasons.   But just because Dan hasn't posted here before, doesn't make his win disappointing?

Congrats on the win Dan.  You now join the illustrious ranks of PTT tipping comp winners........  Yep, I doubt you'll put that on the trophey cabinet.  But enjoy the PUNTA bets :D

Never said his win was disappointing. Congratulated him didn't I?

If you want to view the forum and not contribute that is your call but competing in a forum competition when you don't contribute to the forum is ordinary in my opinion.

In my opinion the comp being open to anyone is a good idea if it entices new contributors but I doubt it does therefore it should be open to forum contributors only.

The more contributors the healthier the forum.

I'm only speculating but I reckon the only reason that Raceday exists is to promote PUNTA and zero to do with enticing more people to contribute to the forum.

Its posts like the one you've just made that probably turn some people away from posting. Why would Dan contribute anything further when 2 harmless posts in, cops unwarranted criticism.

Classic response Thumper. You joined a few years before me and you have posted on average about 30 a year. Not even once a week.

Dan copped unwarranted criticism from me did he? For the second time I congratulated him didn't I? My other comment was in general against all.

My comment does not put people off contributing because those people have no desire to contribute in the first place and if they did they would have commenced long before now.

Sorry Thumper not having a go at you but your speculation is very inaccurate. Now come on Thumper get in the swing of things and post more comments even if they all disagree with me..... Keep involved.

The number of readers on the forum outweighs the contributors by about 20/1. It's still very popular.
Nothing wrong with reading and not contributing in my opinion.
And you are correct, the competitions are partly promos for Punta, but Chris also likes to keep the forum interesting, so the comps would run anyway, just maybe with less prizemoney.

I agree contributing isn't everyone's cup of tea but it would be great to see that 20 to 1 ratio decrease a fair bit.

well the supposed handicappers obviously read them, but it has made no difference to their skills, despite the free help they are often offered!! O:-)
