    The strangest thing about the 2yo race is NO declaration of OUR TIME WILL COME from the Jordan stable.especially at it won a 400m trial today by 5 length and was the top qualified horse

    So that means out of 300+ horse sold at last years MM auction only 10 have won prize money to date??

    Really drives you to rush out and buy one doesn't it!!!!

    There will be 3 more with prize money at the end of the race......so bit better  ;)

    I don't mind that there isn't a plethora of 2 year olds with prize money this time of the year.  Hopefully the connections are holding off running the young one's into the ground if they're not ready to run, and we end up with a lot more good 3 year olds and older....?

    no but I might be there in person (not working, but punting). 
    A wider offering of meetings is not too far away... but we are still battling with RGL over the same old stuff we've been battling with for years.

    yeah but if you hold off until they are 3 you are running into Bob's World........ And we all know who comes out on top then.

    Bloody hard getting 2yo's ready by now.
    We had three eligible / aiming at it. Not one is currently / still in work. (one just not ready, one shinny, one hoof abcess).
    So on one stable's sample - that's 100% not in it.

    I got a call to see if i was running mine that trialed today
    But 1200m is a bit much

    Perhaps trainers have wisen up on not pushing the 2 yo's early . Whats been the mortality rates ( Mortality as in death of a racing career ) when they have been pushed too early for this race and the Karrakatta ???
    Its great too have a horse being in these races but too be competitive for 3-4 years after is another thing.

    Yes because you can run in the Class one on the same day, run 3rd and get $750 less then running last in the MM race.....

    because of the old legislation that says bookies must be present on a racecourse on a day when there is a meeting being held, in order to take bets. 
    that was relaxed so that we could have a server on a racecourse on a day where a meeting was being held (hence why we open markets on fridays... we have a server at Gloucester Park).

    These archaic laws were attacked and changed years ago (and i do mean years) by the equivalent government departments in NT, Vic, NSW etc whereby now in those states, bookies can work 24/7 on any meeting any day of the week. In WA, we are still not there because the public servants at RGL would rather not do the work involved and have shown no willingness to advance the state into the new millenium. I have been told on several occasions by senior personnel at RGL that "you might be better off getting licensed in another state".

    How bout that???

    Might I add that when the government owns the TAB, and the bookies are compeitors of the TAB, then you can see the reason why Racing Gaming and Liquor do nothing to advance the cause of the bookies in this state. 

    Makes perfect sense.

    The horse has struggled @ 1100m in the past so the 1200m 1st up might be a bit beyond her. Probable give her another trial and then into the 1000m on the 20th Feb id say.

    Ravinia was a first starter when  she won the 2yo Magic Millions. Started at odds of 20/1. don;t know if any have won since as either a first starter or as a maiden win.
