    Who is Alex Vlahos ????

He's the son of Peter, that says it all but actually that's a little unfair on him to say that but that rumour has been circulating for the past week and to then post it on twitter is just dumb for someone like him.
If it was going to be scratched by Bob it would have been scratched earlier than this.
Only way it would be scratched now if something wasn't right overnight or something the day prior to the Cup in my opinion.

Any relation to Bill ? @-)

Anyone give Colin Websters horse a chance in the Perth Cup? Colin is due to win one, maybe it's this time?

I like the horse he's a bit of an up and comer...getting out now to a good price around 20/1 ...definate place chance at least. He can train a stayer too. In the mix just behind the 2 favourites.

Since Delicacy has achieved Group1 race status and won't gain much by having an extra Group 2 next to its name, is it in Bobs interest to see Neverland win the race and get the status ?
    Just putting it out there.

re delicacy. great mare could be a champ. big autumn races in melb. for mares plus a winnable aust. cup.

59kg on a predicted hot, muggy 37 degree day could flatten her.

    why run?

DS, it's called calling like it is, it's exactly what a good journalist is supposed to do, unlike the majority of the sycophants here.

Dumb would be a journo saying in writing he wouldnt bother feeding half a Perth Cup field. Way to go

As I explained earlier DS this is the consequence of a severe deterioration (see below) in the overall quality of horse racing here and also when you deliberately go out of your way to discourage staying races by systematically dismantling the staying program of events that used to regularly occur to appease breeders interests and the bloody TAB.

Yes as apart from the couple of genuine class horses it's a very average race and stakes mean nothing here, the class of horse is so poor on average, something still has to win Saturday races.

Ask any of the leading jockeys about the deterioration in the overall standard of horses over the past four or five years that is one of the reasons why Bob horses are so dominant.

Not only does he breed quality stock he breeds to a specific long term pattern unlike the majority of the WA breeding industry whom breed from a large percentage of stallions and broodmares here that are extremely poor.

Other leading trainers have realised that they have to go to the Eastern States sales now in order to be able to compete such is the overall difference in quality between what Bob and one or two other astute WA breeders are breeding than the average WA horse.

Apart from the few genuine class horses around the overall standard is poor and getting worse each season unfortunately. That is why horses with any semblance of genuine ability are able to string multiple city wins together far more frequently than in the past.

    That's not journalism; it's opinion.
And an opinion laced with the usual Andrew Carter bile.
Since when is a "journalist" giving their own opinion regarded as covering the news?
Just another in the media who can't distinguish between reporting and commentating.

Also: while the standard of horseflesh in WA, especially stayers, is pretty poor; to say you wouldn't feed horses that are earning money demonstrates again the distasteful person you are.

I watched the Neverland run in the ATA and thought it was pretty average, ran home late but it was an average field. I think Hall will have Delicacy one off the fence midfield in the run and Pike will be behind Delicacy and won't be able to get past her. Delicacy is well above this field

Amy in case you haven't noticed on here I'm not reporting, I stated categorical fact mate not opinion, ask any jockey or trainer with half a brain the standard of horses is poor and getting worse that's not opinion it's fact, apart from those Bob and a few select breeders are breeding the quality of the stock here is poor and getting worse.
Take Bob's horses out of the picture and the standard of racing would be diabolical.
Hard facts aren't bile mate it just seems like you prefer to live in Neverland.

I'm interested in your solutions Andrew. You have strong opinions on the state of play here in WA, so how would you fix it ?

Wouldn't be running the Perth Cup on January 2nd for starters, nor charging $35 bucks for a very substandard Perth Cup not that I care as it makes it far easier from a punting viewpoint with very, very, few winning chances.
$35 buck to bake in 37 degree heat at Ascot before you even start paying for over priced food and drink is a joke and maybe they should actually cater for punters but that ship has long sailed, they need to face the fact that no one is remotely interested in going to the track any more especially when you can't see or hear races which has been going on for decades.

I wouldn't have potentially put people lives in jeopardy either by running the opening meeting at ascot nor would I have been amateurish enough to attempt to conceal what was wrong with the track and spray paint grass etc but hey each to their own.

mmmmm...don't know what rock you been hiding under Andrew but i sure as  hell hope you go back under it soon..Damo asked for your solutions, all you have done is point out problems that we all know about. Seeing as how you so strongly suggest your post as factual and not opinions, why don't you give us a bit of info on what has to be done..Not highlight the errors of teh past................oh hang on, i just remembered you like holding onto the past don't you??? My error, sorry about that .....carry on.

Anyway, back on topic, I think Bedamijo will win the Cup...Who do you think will win? Be good to hear your one selection before the race.
