She was very good first up going down to BHB by a head and is 2kgs better off here and BHB will have to deal with a much larger field in transit. She beat W&N that race and meets 1kg better.

Had excuses 2nd up racing wide for a long way from a bad barrier, her latest run was disappointing so overlooking that run and based on the gate and 54kg think she will give a good show at the price. She is 26/1 so obviously there are some knocks but willing to spec her in an open race where the good ones are drawn poorly.

Fast N Rocking in the bottom. Fresher and on the up. Got the draw, gets a strong 1200, which is vital given some on pacers have drawn wide and won't get a bludge. Stable back at the top of the tree now the cobalters have been flushed out. Would be masters at doing this trip (Niconero, Confectioner etc). Think Buff has lost a few lengths from his prime. Prices should be reversed.

Buffering from 10 makes it very tough, he wont get to the lead without burning too much, its a lay for me.

Just my observations for the Winterbottom, tough race, but think Buffering can lead all the way.

Winterbottom:

1 Buffering - very good last start, should be able to lead, can win if gets easy lead. 8/10

2 Fast n Rocking - good two starts ago, last start very good without much luck, will need luck 7/10

3 Watermans Bay - big run last start, wide barrier, 2nd last year, can go one better 8/10

4 Shining Knight - first up ? in G1, 3rd last year when 2nd up, tough from inside barrier 7/10

5 Dawn Approach - sits outside Buffering, eased up last start over 1400m - needs luck in G1 6/10

6 Rommel - first up since Feb, sits handy, quality horse, rough place chance 6/10

7 Rock Magic - 8th last year, last run very good from last, sits back, luck needed - 7/10

8 Akhedasset - good 2 starts back, last run poor, hard to forgive, not for mine - 5/10

9 Liberty's Gem - last run very good, peaking?, speedmap has him 1 back on the rail, e/w chance - 7/10

10 Checkpoint - first up in year, form good against local hopes, hard to have 1st up - 6/10

11 Madassa - last start faded, trialled very well this week, local place chance with luck - 7/10

12 Sujet - settles last from wide barrier, first up since July, place chance at best, class jock - 6/10

13 Magnifisio - last years winner, drawn poorly, 3rd up peaking ?, local win chance with luck - 8/10

14 Cool Trade - poor last start, rail from barrier, not for mine 5/10

8 Bass Strait - 4th up, not far away last two runs, 6th last year, place chance at best - 6/10

BHB has kg's of class. Only bad luck in transit will stop him because outside of Delicacy, nothing in this race is even Gr 2 let alone Gr 1. I think he will flog them.

Buffering will run top three and maybe he can win, but Watermans Bay is a tough sprinter and was unlucky not to win last year. Magnifisio was incredibly lucky last year and with this barrier I just can't see lightening striking twice. But I have the obvious connection to her, so commonsense is out the window.

Magnifisio to win from Waterman's Bay with Buffering hanging on for third.

Purely based on the weight turnaround against Delicacy and Real Love, agree he is total class! Winterbottom WFA would have been ideal. He is a real live chance with luck in running, and if he gets the distance.
