    this will be easy for me to proposition this as I will not got involved as I got a few on the go at the moment which is a couple more then the missus knows and if she found out i would/could be at the end of a fearful glassing . appoint a manager , a small committee & go to the sales....do the journey early & if the masses vote for marty , stick with him - if not sound out a trainer who may suit your prospective buy

    How lucky am i...Mrs Rio and i were out looking at a property the other day and we were asking how many horse we're allowed to have on the block. The Agent asked "how many do you have?" i said i think we have about 9 or 11, before the real estate agent could say anything Mrs Rio jumped in and said "no, we have 13" So, i've got one who is happy for us to have as many as we can afford....and i think at the moment we have over cooked it a bit.

    So I'm not too keen to get into any new ones just yet, unless some of the ones we have start creating a regular income!!!!!

    You blokes should be applauded for having the nads to move her on. Her circumstances aside, number one error I've seen in horse ownership is knowing when to fold em.

    What a great ride you guys are having. I have a 50% share in a nice 2yo colt which is shortly heading to the breakers that could be leased. He is a very close relation to Kia Ora Koutou.

    Getting up a bit now I'd say she is a $7k horse maybe Damo has a buyer as a broodie for one of his clients??

    Anyway I'll run her up for you boys for a box of super drys send me a pm

    I checked the classifieds and watched one trial. Gave some unknown guy $700 for a horse by an unknown sire to be trained by some pom that i had never heard of. Had the best year ever....

    To me this is what racing is all about. Its not about the sheiks or the mega wealthy. Its about the battlers that come good. Was lucky enough to pick up a share in a horse for free on vendor finance and it won on debut on a sat in the city. Its still the best day of my life, was in the winners circle with a tear in my eye.

    The luncheon we had on KK day this year was one of the best days i've every had at the races. We didn't give her much of a chance, so to go to the races with a bunch of misfits - most that still didn't know each other - be in a relaxed mood and know we had a runner in the race...WOOHOO!!!

    And I'd never had a winning 2yr old before Essy came along, and she won 3...On a Saturday in the city!!!!
    With owners ages from 19 through to over 70, no-one related and all got along famously. Some blokes had not had a horse before, some had not had one get to the track before, and some had not had a winning thoroughbred!!!
    How ballsy was the young fellow to put us into a horse he had done so much with. Not sure we will ever again see a young trainer put an add on here saying, the horse that just blitzed them in it's first trial is up for sale for less than a Saturday win..Oh and its already accepted to run on Saturday and she is flying........And 15 mad punters all said.............I'll have a piece of that.....hahahaha, maybe it was the perfect site to put such an add on!!!!

    Great journey, meet some great people and hope its given Martin a bit of a profile to go on with. I know I have put 1 in his care and have syndicated one that he has bought since Essy. I also know at least 1 other Essy owner has given Martin horses to access. The future ones will never be as public as this but i reckon we'll have as much fun.

    We've got a lot of trainers in WA that know there stuff, i reckon as the years roll by Martin will join those ranks...

    Howdy everyone. A quick update on the peoples horse ESSY. Well the PTT'ers and some of us are close to people!!! haha

    She didn't meet her reserve. We definitely weren't going to give her away. So she has been resting in a paddock since the York run, has put a few kgs on and in a week or so we will start working her from the paddock as we reckon she needs that change of scenery.

    So its onwards and upwards. Even though the majority were happy to jump off, we are all just as happy to keep her going. And I'll preempt some comments about us setting the price too high...We must have, but we thought it was a fair price at the time.

    No plans set in concrete. But PLAN A is to have a few more runs (none at York!!!!) and then give her a break, with a winter campaign in her sights.....We'll let you know about plan B, C, D, E, etc, etc as and if Plan A falls apart!!!!!

    Hey fellas was going to leave this one alone but couldn't help myself when I saw your horse advertised elsewhere.
    Rio you say you realise yes the reserve must have been set to high but you weren't going to give her away. Fair enough. She was initially offered to a provincial trainer in for 30,000 (true fact) so the reserve on the auction site was dropped to 15,000. Now I see her advertised elsewhere for 20,000 WTF

    news to me..she was on one site only. I was never told of an offer being made for her, or her being offered to anyone. Perhaps fill us in on more info...then again it will still make no difference as i know nothing about any of that.. We were negotiating with 2 people outside of the bloodstock auction, but neither of them were in this state.
