    racing journos are privy to a lot of information...this guy got caught.
    I confess, I have asked a media personality not to tip a horse....many years ago so do not jump to conclusions.

    Hardly jumping to conclusions Falcon, he's been proven to treat punters around the country with complete and utter contempt when he's being paid and paid well to do the exact opposite of that.

    It happens all the time, I'm sure you can vouch for that. Seen it first hand myseif, cop a tip of a certain (respected) racing personnel then when his tips are submitted the following day there's no mention of the horse he's tipped you etc etc

    Did your horse win though falcon and did you and/or the trainer pump the horse up with an illegal or performance enhancing substance? Did you know your horse held an exceptional advantage to the rest of the field.... Different circumstances I assume

    the trainer had nothing to do with it, I was in a social atmosphere with the guy (read :pub).
    the horse won......I just thought the horse would win..and it did...end of story.

    i did defend him but the sms's dont paint a good picture. However i dont think that media should have to declare every single bit of track talk that they pick up on the job. It will become ridiculous.

    true, para...the guy got a hot tip....trouble is he corresponded with the source...who is not the most respected person on course.
    he should have just copped it and shut up....

    Just because it happens all the time doesn't make it right Hash, that's my whole point, fair enough not mentioning the tip if you don't personally think it can win anyway but if you already fancy it and it was already figuring strongly in your assessment then you certainly don't deliberately downplay it, you should tip it as strongly as you were going to beforehand.

    I don't think it's as easy as that @thefalcon-he communicated by text-thus leaving a 'paper trail' or digital footprint, he bet using his phone, again more footprints. And why in the world would this bloke have BZ's number to start with?

    I have some empathy for him as he has almost certainly ruined his career in the media.

    @aquanita It's hard to have empathy/sympathy when he acted so arrogantly. If the bloke had called him instead of texting all you would know is that they spoke-it could have been about the weather and would be impossible to prove otherwise. And how hard is it to get some producer lackey to put your bets on in cash?
