Before tonight's game, North had only won back-to-back games once this year, Rounds 6 (v Rich) & 7 (v Ess).

The only thing that could possibly stop Hawthorn now, is if Shovhog comes out and declares them

Hawks and Eagles in a few weeks should be the the game where the season is finished or on - for mine Freo & Sydney have dropped off too far, really cannot see another contender

Ballantyne out for the season. This is a big blow for the team.

It says home and away season,so perhaps he can get back for finals...if they make it? Couldnt happen to a better bloke...

Never met the guy, but based on his on field attitude, I think he is the sort of guy you want to have on your side in any confrontation. Punches well above his weight and doesn't know when to stop. I hope whoever gets the opportunity to take his place plays with as much heart.

White line fever player he worked for me as a welder while he was still playing at Peel was very laid back and quiet bloke nothing like he is on the footy field

Ted Richards won't be playing against the Eagles next week, after getting rubbed out for a week for rough conduct on Sam Mitchell.

    http://m.afl.com.au/news/2015-07-20/match-review-panel-full-statement-round-16

    Part of Statement:
Ted Richards, Sydney Swans, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Sam Mitchell, Hawthorn during the first quarter of the Round 16 match between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, played at ANZ Stadium on Saturday July 18, 2015.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The offence was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a one-match sanction.

Change of subject, Todd Goldstein, first player in 10 years to have had 20+ disposals and 50+ hitouts in a game. Had 27 disposals and 56 hitouts (20 to advantage) against Essendon. Comes four weeks after he had a record 80 hitouts against GWS Giants. Easily, North Melbourne's best player this season.

And in a sensational development from the AFLmatch review committee, the Jbay shark has received a $1000 fine while Mick Fanning has been given 3 weeks for striking.

With an early plea though, it can be reduced to two weeks!
