He's A Decoy is suffering from a lack of interested breeders supporting him, nothing new in that really. His first crop where ne covered 21 mares returned 11 live foals, that comes down to 82.4%. Second season he covered 11 mares for 9 foals. But that is it so far. His latest season his numbers again were a little quiet with just 9 of his 12 mares covered getting into foal and just one of those has reported at this stage as having had a live foal. More news on the rest I presume in the coming weeks.

But as a Son of Danetime, it is a competitive market in WA. Vital Equine gets in excess of 55 mares each year, So Secret got 40 last year, and Famous Roman who covered 35 last year, was purchased by Dan & Julie Love and will cover 60 plus this year. Chance In Time for Peter Giadresco gets as many as He's A Decoy. So the problem as I see it is numbers and the eventual support of the sales ring, which at this point is not that strong for any of them.

In my opinion sons of Danetime are very well conformed horses, there is nothing to suggest that they will have any more or any less issues than the great bulk of Stallions.

nice stats damien, but i think you may be confused. he's a decoy is not a son of danetime, he's a half brother. personally the lack of mares may be a result of his staliion 'in the wings'. not sure about his race record? maybe someone can shed some light in that?

Of course, how silly of me. He is a half brother, my mistake.

In The Wings, was no slouch as a Sire and Grand Sire, with over 150 SW to his name combined.

By In The Wings, a group one winner in three countries including breeders cup turf, winner of seven races 1200-2400
out of Allegheny River, therefore a half to Danetime.
He's a Decoy won 2 at 2yo. He is group one and two placed, in England and Ireland.
He would seem to have the credentials, not as good as some but better than a lot, so why has he disappeared.
In The Wings is also the sire of Singspeil, which is the sire of Verdant which over 2800m at Flemington tuesday and is part owned by Ron Dufficy

I heard he was bought by hong kong stables for a large amount of money and done a suspensory in track work....
As danetime fired here as a stallion , he's a decoy being half brother ... You would think would be successful... I hope his progeny start racing soon...
