yes, but the scales are balanced because wayside was CRAP as was shining knight.
he is a glass half full, in that he may be very very good often, but he is also often very bad.

You probably still rate K Yuill  she was a fav of yours Carey
    :))
    i don't do favourites dungy.
that's how one ends up in the poorhouse.
anyway, there is no doubt whatsoever she could ride, and probably still could if got the mounts.
her one fault was getting too far out of her ground too often, and she is not alone there.
willie is also very good at that, and then goes looking for miracles runs that he should not have needed in the first place.
in fact i reckon it is pretty simple to see when he wants to win and when he does not seem to care.
the only problem is knowing BEFORE the race!

How was the ride on Eroico yesterday!

Many riders would panic being bailed up on the rails at Sha Tin. Not Joao. Even when the opening appeared he waited until the horse was ready before he pushed the button.

Damien, some people mistake a black and white photo for a good photo. The Pike one has no contrast whatsoever. You are obviously keen on photography so perhaps look at some of the better portrait photographers or do a good course. I recommend TAFE but it is rather intensive.

When I was young, my family couldn't afford TAFE and as a result I didn't become qualified as such with a photographic course and or degree.

Now I can't afford the time.

So I'm happy to experiment with my new portable studio lights, as this was only the third time I had used them when i photographed Willie.

I'm showing 22 pieces at the MM sale. I'm happy to hear any feedback on those as well if you stop by. Are you in a photographic related trade yourself ?

  • Looking at the post from Colin I'd suggest he isn't 'in a photgraphic related trade' but could be an amatuer fisherman

I'm no expert in photography but I've proudly used one of Damien's photos as my wallpaper and Facebook profile picture for the last few years. Feel free to put some of your work up @colin .

    Who can't afford TAFE?

I'm no expert in Racing or Sports administration either but that won't stop me or others telling people that work in that trade how to do their job.

Or how jockeys how to ride.

    Or trainers how to train.

    You get the drift.

Perhaps you are applying 2015 logic to a 1979 problem ? Because back in 1979 in Adelaide, going to TAFE to do Photography was a big deal. The cost of a camera body and just one lens, was a couple of months wage for an average adult. Then there were consumables and tuition costs, not to mention travel. As a young bloke doing some casual work it was even tougher. I did say when I was young, I didn't mean in the last ten years.

As for the rest of your rant, I think you have shown yourself to be someone who has an axe to grind.

Yes I have made numerous comments about the administration of the major club in this town, and several on RWWA issues. But I'm not on my Pat Malone in doing so.

Jockeys and Trainers, I simply can't recall the last public comment I have ever made, good, bad or indifferent on any. I do know I have assisted many of them in ways you would not be aware of.

    You get my "drift" ?

An own goal by me or did Damien score?

    Same score-line I guess.

No axe to grind. Just have a mental image os a very smug man who doesn't seem to have a sense of humour or any self-deprecation which is a must on a forum like this.

And while Damien probably thinks this song is about him (don't you, don't you), my comment on comments was generic.

If pike was still the no.1 jock for peters I think like would still be infront

@rio They don't hand out lengthy suspensions in HK like they do in oz. Moreira rides to win and that attitude doesn't go down well with stewards here. Apparently the safety of the punters' dollar is unimportant.
