And 5 of them have noms extended.
Of course - the two that don't are the only two we've got horses nominated for :(

Time to have that discussion. Is it the trainers not nominating in the city (sometimes under the direction of outspoken owners) or RWWA via scheduling, that have created this problem??

Will be interesting to see how many are nominated for the rest of the weekends racing at Bunbury and Narrogin, and to a lesser extent Geraldton and Esperance

    ratings ratings ratings.
I have one that you would normally nominate for town on Saturday, but if he were to win it, would be severely disadvantaged at the ratings and would limit (his already limited) career.
Trainer prefers to go via the country and maximise the wins.
I hear it time and time again, which is why you'll have 6 and 7 horse fields again on Saturday.

The race we nominated Planet Claire for on Wednesday had 16 nominations. Final field is 7 before scratchings.

I fear making comment for some smart arse telling me I should be running the joint.

I'm glad I have another job on for Saturday, it's a photo shoot for my upcoming exhibition, but deep down I didn't think I would be missing that much by making alternative arrangements to going to the races.

I saw vision of last Saturday's crowd. Well crowd is the wrong word really, small intimate gathering would better describe attendances at Perth races these days.

maybe they need to look at 3 points max for anything that wins under 72..so whether you win in Bunbury in a 64-72 or 68+ or you win at Ascot on a Saturday the most you'll get is 3 points. Over 72 at metro back to normal 5 points.

I mean we cant really downgrade the product anymore so at least change the penalties to better match the standard.

All but the die hards are having a well earned break from racing following the spring and summer carnivals and most of the good horses are also taking a break so it makes sense crowds are low...

And wtf wants to stand around at Ascot in 38 degrees, when there's numerous perfectly good (and cool) PubTABs etc on offer.

As for this weekend - it's Aus Day long weekend.
Would be tumbleweeds is Black Caviar was lining up against Makybe Diva.
Only race track seeing any action will be the freeway out of here.

so, if it were any other state you would be able to see which horse were nominated.

but because wa does it their way, there is no way i(or anybody??) can see which horses were entered?

how does one know it was deleted for lack of entries??

might it not have been because none of then were rated very high?

which would likely be the case as 'opens' are few and far between after racing department decided perth had to be provincial standard at best.

Ratings are hard to understand. My horse ran 7th in a listed race and never dropped a point. 8th horse dropped 3 points.

pb, travinator(6th) beat yours home(7th) and went from 91 to 88

so for BEATING yours, it receives a kilogram benefit.

don't worry, pb you are not alone.

the problem as i see it, is that you may not understand ratings, but much much  much more importantly, the person in charge of then does not understand then either!!

he is single handedly ruining the racing in your state.

carey, I wish you were in perth, then you could get an appointment with the handicapper and tell him where he is going so terribly wrong.
I say that with all sincerity.
