No autopsy? Under normal circumstances as an owner I would insist upon one. But if something was in the system that is illegal then you wouldn't. Therefore the air carrier cannot be held responsible for any misconduct. Comments? I have travelled horses safely sedated on planes no problems.

I've got one comment...I agree...but if the horse wasn't insured and the travel carries no insurance - my understanding unless it was by a aircraft accident, and even then it is very limited. No legal requirement.

I got told - second hand - that it was straight from plane to burial plot.

I'm sorry but you guys at times are seriously idiots.

The horse wasn't racing, wasn't in work and wasn't about to race anytime soon and it was a very valuable broodmare owned by Bob Peters, get a grip, something illegal in its system, please.

    Talk about conspiracy theory nonsense.

Take a step back and examine what you have actually written and you might realize the absurdity of it.

could she have had an adverse reaction to the sedative given to animals before a flight?
I am sure it was "just one of those things"..we must understand that we mere mortals often just drop dead from a heart attack after having been in what was perceived as being" in the pink" healthwise.
animals are no different...my cat, merlot, after having her dinner and going outside for a few minutes, came inside, gave a meow and dropped dead....heart attack!!

Agree falc..Could've been dozens of reason and any combination..the suggestion was made by one person who has travelled horse before that he would've done an autopsy to find out why.. I agreed.

Then cut and paste nominee of the year says we're all conspiracy theorist and bases it on the value of the horse!!!!! WTF

Elite Belle was a champion race horse that had a heart attack whilst travelling. That is a massive loss for our industry and a really bitter pill for the owners to swallow....leave the other crap to another thread and don't diminish her worth on this one...

60Somethink just asked for comments about what people would do, as they would do an autopsy. Then MR Look at me stuff up another thread goes feral for people being asked to give an opinion on a site that is only operating for people to put up opinions!!!!!  Phuck ME!!!!!

More to it than just a heart attack what I've heard around the traps, I will not divulge unless it becomes public, as you know racing is full of hearsay

Surely their not conspiracy theorists as you say for saying an autopsy should be done?? Especially with all the media around the issues in Victoria and side effects that has.........if your clean, do the autopsy and then all the "conspiracy theorists" you speak of Andrew will have to retract. Until then what makes your opinion more realistic than theirs?????

You know when you don't do an autopsy? When you have a plugger going around up Meekatharra way who can barely put one hoof out in front of the other. If it drops dead then you could be forgiven for not wanting one done.

to make it even more questionable, hasn't Bob's current trainer had 2 dodgy foreman rubbed out recently?

Andrew Carter when you fly a horse internationally a vet goes with them, plus they have to be insured. Interstate they only have a handler and a valuable mare like Elite Belle normally would be insured too. I ask you with no vet who could determined what she died of isn't a responsibilty to do an autopsy?

Yes he did train for him. Greg Harper has won a total of 21 group 1 winners in pacing and gallopers. Not many other have that record.

It is also interesting to look back on the breeding records of the group and black type races that he won with Peters horses to note that they all bred on with winning foals.

The only positive swab he ever had was bi-carb that you can buy from you local deli, it is not a drug.

It is common knowledge that most of his swabs were frozen for retesting all with negative results.

For all his knockers he is a top horseman.
