Ah YES---I see TARZI in the WEIGHTS----but to not cause confusion I typed into CRIS search----YOU'R WORDING (quote: Old Tarzi )---no such horse found.
Re me getting glasses.----As an Ex DRUNK DRIVER (not you'r fault of course) I find the only glasses I need would take me back to that VILE DRINK. lol.
Pray Sir---do not lead me to such a wrong and woebegotten future.

great oppotunity for Chloe Chatfield on W.R.Charley in this race. I know the owners are big fans of hers...and i think she might just pull this race off :)

Not any more , Chloe and Noske have been stood down from their rides by officials due to a new policy not allowing 3kg claimers to race in group1 or listed races.

can see the reasoning from the authorities for it but still thats a bit harsh for mine. Pauly Hammersley won a G1 oaks on Mon Mekki for us as a 2kg kid and B.Stanley won a caulfield cup on arctic scent as a 17 year old. i would hope that it would stretch no further than 3kg in this instance. IMO it all comes down to if the connections trust the jock to do the job then why not let them ride after all in w.a they are the same pool of jocks at a midweek as at a Group race.

im glad the noms held up in this race, plenty of speed in mclurch, special reserve, lord baumay etc....i smell "something" swooping late 8) 8)

With a few of the good horses near the rail---I think they better get out fast and early----or there could be a TRAFFIC JAM--with all those lightweights getting together. If that happens I think Jason Brown will cross quickly from outside----and all over --RED ROVER.
  • MightAndPowerMightAndPower    4,148 posts
yeh you could be right there LW..roman time could be in there as pacemaker for marasco  :P
  • lordwaterlordwater    1,127 posts
It could work out that way----or there may be surprises due to luck.---All up it is going to be one of the most interesting races this year. IMO.----If some PUNTER wants me to use their money---I will be pleased to oblige them. :o :o :o

Wonder if the Charlie Beau fans will stick?

I reckon too. Marasco has compressed the weights giving a chance to a few to answer some questions.

Here are my thoughts for Belmont.
    1-x
    2-Broome Time
    3-Classic Colection
    4-Innarticulate
    5-Cohort
    6-Vizard
    7-Marasco
    8-Keytomoney

I reckon bests of the day are Vizard/Innarticulate they walk in im happy to take the shorts about both and i think we are all in loo loo land Marasco is a monty class will win the day dont worry about the weight he beat a similar field first up last winter by 4l in 1.10 over 1200m i reckon Willie will camp of them from a good gate and bring him with 1 run to good for that lot .

Chloe and Jarrad given the boot by stewards - an interesting decision especially an another appentice in Alan Kennedy, albeit only 2kg claimer has kept his mount.

Anyone got any thought on this new horse with Wolfe - BECKS

Was beaten only 2 lengths in a Randwick listed when leading over 1600m, 59kg may take the wind out it of tho first up

This means that Chloe, current leading jockey in Kalgoolie prob wont be able to ride in Kalgoolie or any cups despite being a 1.5kg claimer in country and 2kg provincial

how many winners till she loses the 3kg?
  • BlacatBlacat    410 posts
she has 8 wins in metro , needs 20. so unless she gets many good rides which is hard for a larkhill jockey, could be atleast 2 more years.

should not say Larkhill jocks , nothing wrong with the horses. just that the country apprentices in general have a harder time getting good rides in metro meets.
Metro wins in excess of 20 remove country and provincial claims , but not the other way around.

If a 16year old signs as an apprentice and has RIDING SKILLS that would have Senior Jockeys in tears----if after say 12 months their MASTER was agreeable and ( the apprentice got all the BREAKS)-can they become a Senior Rider.????? Or are there AGE and Stage Limits they must go through.?????????
  • BlacatBlacat    410 posts
Alot of apprentices already have riding skills eg: racing in the family , in Chloes case rode in Polocrosse since 9yo then completed equine course at agg colledge which included a track work licence , this has no effect on the stages they go through.
  • lordwaterlordwater    1,127 posts
Great thanks.-----I suppose it would take in creating LEVEL PLAYING FIELD----as well as making sure of safety (due to age ) etc.etc.-----Thanks again.
  • BlakeBlake    8,176 posts
I dont know if its the same in perth as here but once you outride your claim you can apply to become a senior. Chloe should ride 12 winners in shorter than two years surely??
  • lordwaterlordwater    1,127 posts
Road rules and driving licence to be made Uniform (Nation wide). Maybe Racing Rules need looking at Nation wide. ???????????
  • BlacatBlacat    410 posts
In country not a problem well and truely covered , If she had more chances like riding her stable horse that she rides dailey at work WR Charlie more likely.

I have to admit, I would rather Alan Kennedy or Chloe Chatfield on my horse than some jockey like Danny Miller but I can definately see what the stewards are saying, I mean the last thing you would want as an owner is to see your top galloper get knocked down or interfered with by an inexperienced rider in a blacktype race.

I think they should just make it 3kg apprentices, say 1.5kg or 0kg apprentices should be allowed.

I just wish they not only did this with apprentices but horses who get nominated for big races where their form is 4 example, 12th at narrogin or 7th at york.. see it alot.. that shuld def stop.

I don't know if this rule is Aus-wide or just in WA, but it's probably a fair comment that this rule was brought in because of the Perth Cup? Don't mean to offend Blacat but it is ironic.

I think there is a large distinction between G1/G2/G3 races and LR races in WA in terms of both class and number of races. I think it would've been fairer to enforce this rule for G1 or G2 only?
  • lordwaterlordwater    1,127 posts
Yes guess you'r right. A 100 kilo man drowning would rather have a 16 year old (bruiser ) jumping in to save him---rather than a 49 kilo UNI STUDENT. Though I was told what may be a STORY----that a Girl Jockey once delivered a great Left Hook to one of the boys. I finish my input on this subject at this point.

Just finished trying to analyse this race and even with 60kg I keep coming back to Marasco - priced him at $2.20. If they dont beat him tomorrow how are they gonna get close in the Roma Cup???
  • MightAndPowerMightAndPower    4,148 posts
i agree on both counts, this race i wasnt aware he was running in until noms came out but the race will be run to suit..just needs to get out and he runs over the top of em.Roma cup he just wins imo.

Jarrad Noske puts half the senior riders in WA to shame in my opinion. He has a great future.
