On the 30 May 2014 I attended a trot meeting at Gloucester Park for the first time in around 2 years.
Come to Race 6 I backed the 1 as it had led and won at it's previous start and thought it could be hard to beat again from the very favourable draw. I was shocked to see it give up the lead early easily but it appears this was pre-arranged before the race according to the stewards report (I personally believe this could be considered as race fixing??). As a punter I would have liked to have been privy to this information!
I was happy to see though that the race was subject to a stewards inquiry questioning the driving tactics of the 1 - oh well I might have done my $10 but at least the stewards were going to investigate.
I was bored this morning and thought I would have a look at the outcome of this enquiry - I either can't find it or it hasn't been held (which surprises considering it happened back in May). Can anyone tell me if in fact this enquiry has been held?

Late Report Friday 30 May 2014 - RACE 6: AUSTRALIAN MARINE COMPLEX THE PURE STEEL MS FINAL (2130M)
Stewards concluded the inquiry into the driving tactics adopted by MY HARD COPY NZ (Kim Prentice). At the conclusion of the inquiry Trainer Gary Hall Snr was fined $200 under the provisions of Rule 44(1) for not notifying a change of tactics on MY HARD COPY NZ as this horse had led and won at its previous start but surrended the lead in this event on the night. Driver Kim Prentice was also reminded of his obligations in regard to using his initiative in driving tactics when circumstances change prior to the event, even if this may be in direct contrast to instructions given pre race.

Ross Cooper was involved for a while wasn't he? Not there anymore? I guess if it comes to cost cutting someone in that sort of position is one of the easiest targets because it's hard to quantify their role, for the people on here we see a position like that as vital but from someone looking from up above with a different understanding they might see them as unnecessary.
That is why a Form Analyst is required as he should be able to focus just on those aspects of racing without worrying about interference and whip infractions etc.
Most if not all Thoroughbred panels have designated Form Analysts and I note that it was one of the recommendations in the HRA Wagering Report.
