Our problem was opposite - beat most of the top teams, just lost those silly early matches v demons, dogs etc while Maric, Rance and Lids were out.

Rich coming from you, when your mob doesnt have the heart to ever finish off a season, across the board your player group is weak. I have never seen a side that can be so good in the first half of the year and so bad in the back half, year in year out.

Not usually commenting on this stuff Because dont follow closely but isnt it Adam Simpsons first year as a coach? Not bad for a rookie coach who took on a team who seemed to be unmotivated.

Next years draw should suit the West Coast a bit more. Usually teams that finish in the bottom half of the competition, are drawn to play teams that similarly are under performing.

Now that didn't help them this year, perhaps it will next year.

Too bad that two Derby's are scheduled each year. They have no hope of beating Freo anytime soon.
  • IntoItIntoIt    659 posts

Its taken Freo a long time to get anywhere near the top and  now they have to maintain it. Can they last?

Eagles will be on the rise  next year.

Nah, their draw will be harder (finished lower last year?). All things considered a crap year. Percentage of 116 but miss the finals means one thing - flat track bully frontrunners. Good to see the usual flat trackers Masto and JJK stick true to form.

I agree thought he did a good job talks well is honest he will do ok got a brain for footy he dropped Wellingham which was a good thing and had to deal with the  Cox retirement and playing 3 ruckmen ect ect i can only see upside for them with a decent mid or 2 they will be in the mix 2015

yep Dungy a midfielder or two and some depth around the backline. They have the forward to win, the ruck to have a presence (Lycett mainly) and enough slow midfielders to fill a MTT bus!!!!

Simpson may be getting close to too honest for his own good. But it was a good finish to the season for him. Cox and Glass gone, chance to build it his way and if not next year then the one after, could be a force in the bottom half of the 8.

haha, been waiting for that question..if they'd made the 8 this year, that would've been the achievment.. to be a force in the 5-8 spot means they easily got into the 8 and would be expected to win week 1 and be a series contender for the rest of the finals series.

not sure if there's a "force" in the bottom half of the 8, but i reckon there's a "pest" in there... Richmond!

Had a very enlightening chat with a WC insider yesterday.
So it seems, Rio isn't the only one who is less than fussed with one Mr Nic Nat.

    "Is just a player.
Not worth the money as a player, no, but is marketing gold.
Will play a handful of games a year at home as crowd pleasers, but otherwise just seeing out his contract".

Interestingly - refuses to play for the East Perth Eagles, so that all not going to change in a hurry either............

I'm lost, are you talking about NicNat playing a handful of games at home year to year to please the crowd and seeing out this new multi million dollar contract, I hope not, because if so this is stupidity at its best.

But I will tell you one thing, hopefully he gets his first full pre-season under his belt and he will then show what he is capable of doing once fit and I will unleash a tirade of abuse to all those flogs out there that have no idea of how his impact on a game is like no other ruckman before him...

phew, common sense.....i'm glad that it is known from within, even if not spoken....in that role he will play some sensational games in the 10-15 a year he is in, whilst Lycett and Sinclair will do the bulk of the work and i'm sure that if they perform in their 10-20 runs a year will be handsomely rewarded..

NicNat in a winning team could write his own paycheck....due to his value to the club...not the team

You might be right (I doubt it, but everyone has an opinion). But you've genuinely bet the farm on him. Given the state of your midfield list, he is gonna have to spoon feed em. Cos you've got no money to lure (not trade) anyone here (he's getting it all), and you've pissed away first rounders on squibs like Wellingham, Sheppard and even Gaff. That is gonna kill you in a few years time, the same way the Pitt/Mora/Simpson void will hurt us.

Typically not an Eagles thing to do, but they should get creative and trade Darling for a genuine gun midfielder. You'd get overs for him, guaranteed.

I offered a member of this board a bet of $500 NicNat will be an AA in the next 3 years but was turned down.

I offer the same bet to anyone else here and given the size of the bet and character of many of you here (dockers supporters) someone can hold the wager on trust until the bet is done.

  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
I turned you down because the commentary is based on attitude and desire, not ability.
Fix his attitude, and yes - anything could happen.
And without a doubt if he heard I've put a monkey on it......................

As it stands they've brought up other rucks to cover / replace him, and the coach won't be playing him other than when instructed to by Trevor.
    No different to this year.

    What does this even mean?

Who have they brought up to replace/cover him? Lycett has been brought up to replace/cover Cox.

Sinclair is a rookie and played 1 game this year?

As far as I know we don't have any more ruckman on our list.

It feels like we are having a conversation about two different subjects here.

If there is anyone who needs to leave our fcuking club it is Trevor, has become a cancer.

Even if this was all true it would be incompetence by the powers that are on the grandest scale.

I've put my money on the table, lets see who else will...I wont hold my breath.

Gee there is some absolute rubbish that goes around year in year out, it must be the offseason (for the sh1t clubs anyway)
  • octaviusoctavius    2,290 posts
NicNat has played 20 games this year, a couple of games rested for a combination of soreness and poor form which IMO can be attributed to no pre-season.
