Now that is what a champ can do $3.40 giving money away

Give the jock some credit too. Nice attack on the corner seemed to have done the job, instead of waiting for the straight to sprint.

Had he not wobbled like a drunk on the turn wins by 4

WP went too slow. Youd think he wouldve tried to expose him foe fitness. Instead they ran only a smidge quicker than the moderate event immediately prior.

A great win by the champ, and Smoko game in defeat giving away 9kg. I would have loved to see Lucky Grey and Mr Moet in this race as well, especially the latter as I thought he was going to be first up in this race.

I must admit I had doubts over Barakey first up at the 1300m, also had doubts over Smoko at that distance. Which left me with Celebrity Miss, who I think was disappointing on face value.

Be interested to hear how Smoko pulled up because the time was not flattering for horses of that calibre and you wouldnt expect Zester and Settle Strada to finish on his heels like that.

none of smoko's runs this time in have been a patch what he had done before.

mailman sent me a pm wanting to know something before that meeting, and he reckoned smoko is smoked.
well maybe not those exact words, but he is correct if smoko's numbers for the three runs this time in are right, and i have no reason to doubt them.

i reckon i may have even been able to run at least seventh in that race on saturday.

So in light of that statement, are you down playing the win of Barakey ?

well his run was miles under what he has shown he can do.
but all he needed to do was win, and there's no point doing more than you need to, the money's the same.
so i don't know as far as barakey is concerned.

smoko on the other hand could not rise to the the occasion, although i do think he should have went along harder early on.

Barakey did a few things wrong today and still disposed of smoko , must question the form out of the newmarket , time that day was not stunning and the opposition would hardley rate in the top 50 of WA sprinters , i have been a little surprised by the hype around smoko .

The sport lives on hype to be fair. We really need superstars, just not everybody embraces it, and some even go out of their way to deny they have a good horse.

WA Racing needs headliners. Unfortunately for the local Industry, most headlines have been provided by two legged idiots and not four legged equine freaks.

Freaks....the last time we had a freak was Northerly, and before that Placid Ark! Barakey is not a freak.
