Just heard news that Crumpet O'Reilly has been put down after breaking its pelvis at trials in Melbourne this morning. 
What a way to lose a horse. He won his last 5 in a row. 

Its a tough tough game.

    That is horrendous - for horse and owners!!! Way too tough at times.... I thought having our Snitzel turned out the week it was meant to go to trial for the second time in 5 months was tough!!!! At least we still have him...I think that's a blessing!!!!

    We are having dramas with getting a filly to trial .... Pales into insignificance

    I actually had a fair bit to do with Crumpet O'Reilly on race days & I am really going to miss him too.

    A lovely animal he was & his racing career has been cut short, way too soon.

    Commiserations to Peter & the others owners & may the Pastures be greener than ever in Horsey Heaven Crumpet. R.I.P

    Yes, a very nice horse indeed.

    I was surprised to learn he was in Melb, I thought he had a lot of wins left in him in Perth and was looking forward to seeing him race again.

    Either way it's a shithouse result for everyone involved.
