Both Earthquake and Rubick very impressive should make the Blue Diamond a race worth looking at it all depends on the barrier draw now.

    Agree 100% although if Rubick comes out of the gate and is ridden like he was today it will be all over.

    the way earthquake let down her last 200, she has his measure imo, that last 150 was explosive once give a crack with the whip, as soon as she headed the leader and was given one round the backside, wooshka!... my oh my rubick would wanna hope he doesnt get too much pressure up front early doors cause EQ will sit just off them and go BANG in the straight!

    Be a decent race none the less. Personally i think it will be a positive for Rubick to draw wide, as he can roll forward then slide accross. He misses the kick from an inside barrier and its nighty night.

    Earthquake a versatile filly, similar to Guelph. Be a decent race to watch unfold. Jockey in these big races usually prove their worth. No offence to Avdulla because i love backing him, but Browne is much better at summing up the situation.

    A lot has been made of the fact that rubick "worked very hard" and whatever.

    You see it every week, this 1100m (1000m as well imo) start at caulfield panders on on speed horses that can muster and hold the inside. Horses wide on pace weaken and the backmarkers have to spend too much petrol going around the weakening debris horses falling back in the field to get into the race. 

    Its vomit inducing. A classic example was African pulse first up last preparation, it just makes for uncompetitive racing! Of course its not always like this, but if you have a talented on speed horse drawn inside they will generally run very well. 

    Earthquake all the way for me... although i have the feeling she doesn't race well inside other horses so barrier will be important

    all shall be revealed!!

    Get on Rubick it's a cert 3.20 been hoeing in was on back at 6s to fly out tomorrow to melb an will be cheering Rubick home Earthquake is in for a shock

    Just a note of caution to all on here. I live about 5 minutes from the track and it has been raining heavily since about 3 this afternoon with more predicted.

    Now Caulfield is a very good draining track, but they have been paying $3,000 a day for water to water the track. Obviously they haven't taken any notice of the weather forecasts. 


    Rain is predicted for tomorrow and Friday, so we could be looking at a dead to slow track. 

    I don't know about all of you, but unless you have got horses in the field that you know can handle the conditions, then you are betting blind.

    All I'm saying is watch the first 5 races and go from there.

    I was an East St Kilda Man for many a year before moving over to Perth, BL.  We may have something in commion, afterall..

    WEATHER UPDATE

    No rain today, bureau got it right again 

    =))

    Instead a cool day, plenty of sunshine and a drying breeze.

    Not even going to predict tomorrow.

    If the curator leaves the track alone, it should be perfect bar any further heavy rain.

    First time in a long time I have watch Eastern States Racing. Earthquake was spectacular in her acceleration inside the final furlong.

    remember that sepoy won in the equine influenza year from memory so they were all pretty average that year

    My thoughts exactly mate! I just saw the replay, she was being scrubbed up well before the turn then as soon as Browne pulled the whip and gave her a couple at the 250m mark she let down just like she did last start.. This is a serious filly! No 2yo will get past her on that effort today

    Browne has the ride because Kerrin was hurt in a fall in the Karaka Millions at Ellerslie late January.

    He hopes to be back next weekend.

    Ultimately she will be remembered in a different way, as Sepoy being a Stallion, has a far greater chance of having a significant impact on Australian Racing.
