I can't copy and paste the link from my phone, but an article in today's West Australian has indicated that Chris Parnham will be heading to Sydney as of next week, for the traditional 3 month period, as an apprentice for Gai Waterhouse.

Opportunities may be limited at first, but he will still be given a chance on some provincial circuits, and then in town once the Carnival starts to quieten down.

If nothing else, this is a magnificent opportunity for Chris to go over and learn from one of the greatest horse trainers that Australia has seen to date. It will potentially place a feather or 3 in his cap, and a reference on his resume, to hold in very high regard.

Best wishes for a successfull stint in Sydney Chris and I know you will make the most of your opportunities ;)

He has the right racing style for Gai's runners as she like them to be up contesting the lead. Whether he gets any good rides is another question, though as Tommy Berry & James McDonald are getting the first choice by the looks of it and they are both world class.

    just a perception, forelock.

i guess you'd be tugging on your forelock if you spent time at tulloch lodge. nothing against gai, i think she runs a VERY tight ship.

anyway, give you a break from tugging something else...

Providing he settles in well could get good rides after the carnival as Tommy Berry is off to Hong Kong along with Bowman.
Macca will probably be number 2 for Darley when O'Shea takes over.

Well done CP a good rider good kid and a hell of a good family nifty must be chuffed

Always thought BP would have go e over once upon a time but Chris has the edge in Riding talent at the same age

Gai can improve a horse an rider usually because if the paint stripping tirades she gives her jocks ask N Rawiller or J Cassidy

That's terrific for us here in the west hope he gets plenty of rides to cheer him on

Parnham's three month contract will be up the same time as Berry leaves for HK. Ditto J Mc with Darley.

I think you're getting your forelock confused with your foreskin Falc. Although from memory when I met you, you were a few hairs short of a forelock....
