Thought i better get in early to start discussion about Saturdays up coming meeting.

Interesting how they have put the main race, the Goodwood sprint at race 5 or 3:05pm. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing? Good to see something different though from Perth racing, might get ppl at the track earlier.

Any forward thoughts on any nice types on Saturday? Horses i mean...Classique Ivory looks hard to beat in the third, hoping he hits the front with 150m to go and something comes at him. He will fight most horses off in a scrap over this journey.
Hans Up also an interesting one. Wasnt a great trial, but was he pushed out?

I have a feeling the goodwood is on early as it is going to be a non event. down to 7 runners now, fave will be long odds on and should just stroll in.

Not so sure about Settle Strada being a walk up winner...It's had a few starts this camapaign and has got to tire at some point..normally only has 3 or 4 runs/camapaign..Vermeer and Reimbursement are both in it and The Entourage has been boxing on well in it's runs - although the distance maybe an issue for it.

I'll take it on(with my normal massive investment) if i can find a bookie to give a decent reward for doing so ;-)

How much longer can we get away with these listed and group races with such small numbers and - no disrespect to any owners/trainers - low quality fields??

$1.40...the early markets assess it as a non event!  :-B

are you suggesting i am wrong???? It wouldn't be the first time...on either issue. a) that i'm wrong and b) that you think i am wrong... =))

When is Punta putting prices up??

Friday morning....regulation, regulation, regulation prevents us from competing on a Thursday!

having said that, I'll be laying settle strada at the short quote. Its just what we bookies do!

Is that the price about Turner holding onto the side of the barriers as they open?

I think just trying to stay on the horss is one of the biggest hurdles with this fellow...he is so full of himself, strong and powerful...must be a real balancing act to get him to the barriers...Very exciting to watch

would have to show something after last week before i'd get on..Thateldo is proving to be a good strong horse..Been good to me, see no reason to get off....but will struggle to get on with the $1.75 on Ozbet ATM. May be my nomination in the comp this week
  • Rogue_GreenRogue_Green    294 posts
Yeah doubt id be taking the $1.70 about Thateldo, shortest win was over 1200m and up in weight from last win. Nothing wrong with backing Spin da wheels again. Loves to races, clearly.

Pretty open day at Belmont. if you can get a decent % of the Quad i think you will be walking away with a nice return. Dependin on if your risking Settle Strada or not.

Gonna have a crack at #4 Bonne Femme in the 2nd on the each way at $51. Starlight lady for me in the 3rd with Ben Paterson on board. Will probably lock in Hans up as my selection for the knockout competition should just be winning again.

Dueton @ $3.00 looks good to me.

    :-c

    Hans Up @ $2.00 from barrier 11 and T. Turner. =))

He may well win, but not with any of my hard-earned on him !

not sure where those knockout markets come from. I'd suggest they haven't refreshed from last week.

Has had 3 runs, was only half fit first-up and had well reported reasons for previous preps being ended prematurely. He should continue on his winning ways. $1.40 too short for me, but he'll be my selection in the knockout.
A double SS in to Hans Up may be the way to go at around $4

i hear you funky, and it's not a strong field. In fact it has been hard to find who i will have a shot at, it could be 10/1 or better the field just about!!!

And I'll probably go the same double as you suggested to be honest as my saving bet... However i can't trust both of them..Hans Up to get to the start and SS to continue on it's winning way..I'll stick with Thateldo in the comp at this stage...Put those 3 with Tiger Pete and it may be the only way to get any value out of the 4 of them!!!

Pretty hard for Diva to make an early pricing error , going up after everyone else does and at 145 % , lol , be unlucky if you made an error

The thought process is that the race is a non betting affair in real terms, so the least amount of damage whilst still making it a feature of the day, is to have it as the first leg of the quaddie. Otherwise it could have been race 2 or 3 just as easily with the larger field in the fillies and mares race going into the quaddie in it's place. Or that is how I understand it.

The Goodwood will only rate the bare minimum for the participation of Settle Strada, who has an outside chance of improving the race by becoming a decent horse in the next 12 months. Other than that, this race is in my opinion, not worthy of Listed status this Saturday. Hell it is only a Saturday race in reality.

At Godockers (if that's his actual name?), at least Diva will accept a bet to win more than sixpence......too many corporates splatter prices that are purely window dressing for mug punters, with no actual substance behind the scenes. You may know of one...

Velcro( unusual first name) , Diva seems to think he is a cross between Dominic Beirne and Bill Waterhouse in their heyday , I think his self confidence is terrific , all size players have a place in the wonderful game of racing , as long as we all survive that's all that really matters

At khunter/ Godockers , The Diva is trying to make a living as an on course bookmaker which you know, in this day & age, is very difficult to do with betting percentages around 110% to 115% when they jump, without being able to bet any betting products apart from fixed odds. Yes the heydays of the 90's have passed us by where percentages were around 145% at the jump, before the corps were around. And even back then some on-course bookies couldn't survive, even with jocks in their pocks! So for The Diva still to be serving the industry & being solvent, must count for something!!
