R1. Westspeed 3yo Handicap - Gary Wright

Midnight Shimmer has good wraps on her, she could hardly have been more impressive last start when winning quite easily, and over the increased distance of 1400 metres today should go very close once again. This is probably her last start this campaign before she is put away for some of the summer feature three year old staying races, and she only carries 53kgs here today and looks the class in this race. The Iron Horse of three year old racing in Spin Da Wheels fronts up again today, he just seems to thrive on racing most weeks and over a variety of distances, back up to 1400 metres here and we know it wont bother him at all, he has won two races over this distance of late. Star Of Husson was a huge run last start, if she can reproduce that she is certainly in with claims here, and she is another who will love the extra distance today. Sanctitude has run a couple of good races to commence his career, looks the other main hope in this opening race.

2. MIDNIGHT SHIMMER - 1. SPIN DA WHEELS - 9. STAR OF HUSSON

SUGGESTED BET - 2. MIDNIGHT SHIMMER $70

Friarfighter couldnt have been more impressive that when he won first up at Ascot in April, subsequently he started at prohibitive odds at his next start when he disappointed and ran fifth of nine. However there may have been excuses that day, and he returns this afternoon on the back of a trial victory at Lark Hill a couple of weeks ago. Jo Azzopardi hops on board today to reduce the weight, he has drawn beautifully in barrier two and would have to be the selection based on that first up win in the Autumn. Scampin may run another good race, she is steadily improving after three race starts and is also well drawn and with no weight to carry here. Steel Almighty won very well last start at Pinjarra to break his maiden status, looks to have place claims at least in this race, and the horse he beat that day in Military Might should improve on his performance in that Pinjarra race, and is another that should prove popular with punters in novelty bets.

    2. FRIARFIGHTER - 10. SCAMPIN - 3. STEEL ALMIGHTY

    SUGGESTED BET - 2. FRIARFIGHTER $50

R3. Universal Ruler Handicap - Gary Wright

The scratching of the probable favorite in Portonian has helped the chances of the rest of the field here no end. Grand Crusade now looks to have a very good chance of notching a victory here, he will race close to the lead, we know that, and can take advantage of a good barrier draw and be given every chance to win his fifth race. He has raced three weeks in a row now, but hopefully it doesnt affect him, I like the switch back to 1200 metres where he has a good record, and he looks very hard to beat today. Zuccheros was impressive in winning at his first race start at the midweeks, he must also come into calculations here. Pure Glamour does race very well first up, and did win a trial here a couple of weeks ago, she is one to watch with that good first up record, and The Expert has raced well this time in for the Wolfe stable, he comes off an emphatic win at Pinjarra last start.

    1. GRAND CRUSADE - 6. ZUCCHEROS - 8. PURE GLAMOUR

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. GRAND CRUSADE $20 x $20

    R4. Tabtouch.mobi Handicap - Gary Wright

Tiger Pete ran on very nicely at his first start back this campaign behind Dueton on Jul 29, that was an impressive return and he looks very hard to beat today. The claim for the stable apprentice Natasha Faithfull brings him in with 57kgs, and his record second up is impeccable, he loves the Belmont track, all pointers to a very good showing today. Another returning for the Simon Miller stable is Ron's Call, he may have dissapointed a little at the end of his last campaign, he was a beaten favorite at his last three starts actually, but he did earn that favoritism on his previous form, so it probably pays to go on that. He did beat Hans Up in a trial a couple of weeks ago, hard to probably get a guage on trial form but it does appear he is fit and ready to go. Sir Hallowell has been racing in the stronger open company of late, behind the likes of Settle Strada, this is a much easier proposition so look for an improved showing from him today. Maybe one at odds maybe Cherie Amour, her first up run behind Magnifisio was terrific, she just got too far back at her last start, so it may pay to forgive her that run.

    1. TIGER PETE - 6. RON'S CALL - 2. SIR HALLOWELL

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. TIGER PETE $20 x $20

R5. Crown Perth Handicap - Gary Wright

Young Lionel is probably just about ready to win a race once again, it tool him a while last preparation to finally break through, but once he did he raced really well after that. He has had four starts back from a spell now and it might be the day today for him to salute. He was just beaten last start by The Alleged who he meets once again here, but he did race a little wide on that occasion and has a good chance of turning the tables here. Hard to fault the form of The Alleged, in fact its impossible as he goes for four wins on the trot today, and amazingly in the space of 22 days, he just seems to thrive on racing, so expect a very close tussle between these two, this could be a real highlight of todays racing. Others who must be respected are Black Romeo, who has been in really good form of late, maybe unsuited a little by the mile, probably better over the 1400 metres, but still must be a chance here on his latest efforts, and Huegill, a much improved run last week, he could be a nice each way proposition if he can reproduce that effort once again today.

    8. YOUNG LIONEL - 3. THE ALLEGED - 9. BLACK ROMEO

    SUGGESTED BET - 8. YOUNG LIONEL $20 x $40

R6. Westspeed Stayers\' Bonus Handicap - Gary Wright

Not very easy here at all, quite a few chances in this distance race. If it wasnt for the 61kgs allocated to Full Steam Ahead and the prospect of a rain affected track after the deluge over the last two weeks he would probably be the selection, and most punters elect here. However on an each way basis we will go for Verdello Blue, who has a massive 4.5kgs turnaround having been beaten only a neck by Full Steam Ahead last start. Verdello Blue probably leads this field up and stays out of trouble, and may just keep a nice pace on as well with the 55.5kgs, it will make it hard for the grinders to sprint over the top of him over the concluding stages. One that has raced well lately is Friarday, he won impressively last start and may provide strong opposition again today. Its hard to ignore Full Steam Ahead, nice to see him return to form last start, and he is the class horse of the race, so certainly should be in the firing line over the last 200 metres once again today. Ask Me Nicely is also a chance, a good run last start behind Uncle George.

    2. VERDELLO BLUE - 4. FRIARDAY - 1. FULL STEAM AHEAD

    SUGGESTED BET - 2. VERDELLO BLUE $15 x $25

    R7. Perthracing.com.au Handicap - Gary Wright

This is an interesting race as When We Were Kings tackles this company for the first time, a possible Hannans Handicap preparation may also depend on how he handles the rise in class today. He has been in such terrific form that you must give him every chance of making it four straight here. He always seems to lob into a commanding position in running and sprint over the top of them, hopefully for his backers the inside draw is kind to him here and he can get off the fence in good time to launch down the straight, and we will tip the King to go on his winning ways once again. Honest Lies is down in class from recent runs in the listed races, and at his third start from a spell today can make his prescence felt, he is drawn beautifully and has Paul Harvey to pilot today. Barnsley Lad was possibly a little disappointing first up, but should improve here over the slightly longer journey, he has class on his side, and there are no Settle Stradas running around in this race. Another up in class but racing very well is Tax A Million, probably comes across from his outside barrier and tries to lead this field, maybe a good each way chance at nice odds.

    12. WHEN WE WERE KINGS - 8. HONEST LIES(NZ) - 3. BARNSLEY LAD

SUGGESTED BET - 12. WHEN WE WERE KINGS $30

R8. Amelia Park Handicap - Gary Wright

Helena Miss has been back to what would seem her best over the last month, she is drawn the pole position here and will no doubt try and get out quickly and lead this field as she has done in her last three starts. The main concern is she is back into Saturday company and up slightly in weight on her last couple of starts, but if she freewheels in front she may be able to bring up her second win in a row. At her top she is the best horse in this race and probably by a fair margin. Endless Time chased Helena Miss home last start and may have to do so once again, she is a very consistent mare though and deserves respect once again today. Romp To Fame ran a nice first up fourth to The Alleged and has won second up previously, has changed stables of late and may be reinvigorated. The Social Network is one of those horses that is always about the place, does like this distance, back from the 2000 metres of last week, a slight worry, but she must come into first four calculations once again today.

    3. HELENA MISS - 13. ENDLESS TIME - 4. ROMP TO FAME

Dunno Jayson,I am starting to get off The Expert.Slow track last start and i am starting to worry was that a gut buster? Was really impressive but the time of 1.15.40 is not impressive at all over 1200mtrs.To put that in comparison to race 10 at Belmont on Wed on a slow track,Our Movember ran last by nearly 20lghts with a time of 1.15.70(no excuses). Our Movember got beaten by 1ength to the other fav Pure Glamour in a recent barrier trial(even tho we dont read to much into barrier trials).Dont let me change your mind mate, but i dont think it is a put in take out race!Good luck!
