are we ever going to get a race where all the jockeys are awake????? that was a shocker and both experienced and apprentice jockeys.....What teh heck was Donga doing early on???? It's only ever won when ridden in the first 3, he has that opportunity and he pulls it's head off and sends it wide and back?!?!?!?!?!?!

Saw one go busted ass in r3, what will the next do,........ Hope his fees are cheap for your sake if you are going to make money this season

Really, well considering it was only the horses second race in the state and we only used last weeks as a trial, it was actually only its first race in the state and it was 100th second from 4th... We have stepped this horse up from running in $10K races to Saturday class first prep.....  Open your eyes pal.....  I have 18 here in the state... keep watching... oh yeah i think i got paid for the place today also.... we will sneak her into the 1400 mid week in 11 days and see how we go....

In regards to fees, I am a businessman pal, my background is in restructuring companies so you would hope NEGOTIATIONS would be in my skill set......

I think Astra Sky also got 2nd last Saturday???  When you have $1000 at 16 - 1 fixed for a place that also contributes to the monthly costs.....
I did not bother to mention golden palms 4th last Saturday.... keep watching :)

Didnt back either but gee the girl on I see Luck put the stick away and tried to ride very   cute1 more hit and it wins  over the last 50m young Chris just far to good in a tight finish

finally gets a good ride for wolfe and throws it away at the end....would have thought she would have rode it right out to show the stable, a bit disappointing.

gone a wide quoddie today for a small %

That's why with the exception of one, you may as well use apprentice's in this state and take the claim....

    $500  61 - 1   ...............  but i only punt when very confident.....

Yes I continually hear that I am a fool, this is what inspires me to prove to the doubters incorrect.  I am under no illusions how tough the game is but love a challenge, so when you get a self made driven man, a kiwi, dedicated, disciplined, non emotional, hard working, sound listening skills, astute observation and an extremely analytical mind what better challenge to attempt to be successful in a difficult industry.

Oh yeah and of course a little bit of luck, but one generally makes his own luck...

Perhaps now you are saying what a dick head, that's cool everyone is entitled to their opinion and in a years time you will say I told you so....  Ummm I hope not :)

Failure is not in my make up, it will just mean I have not put in enough hours into the industry (already average 50 a week).....and will have to continue to learn.

But what I will not accept is someone saying OH he was just lucky.... That is called tall poppy syndrome...

Of course I would always take the experience where I believe the horse can carry the weight, but so many times the figures i have reviewed some horses just do not perform no matter what you do if you give them more than 53 kg...  In those instances I would go up in grade and take the claim everytime.

Settle strand just wins he is a quality animal and can go onto summer features after this I have no doubt

dungy that race was only about the same as the now defunct 86+, and 3.5 kilos weaker than an unscaled g4 was until your officials decided perth racing is only for second raters.
    good horses not welcome

if he goes well in summer features then that will say a lot about the standard of the racing there.

It was a great ride wasnt that impressed with Patterson who was more worried about keeping Grand Crusade 3 deep when he could have slotted in and got the run Staeck got and won.

And that 1000 at 16/1 place you have surely invested and lost on the rest of them,
Because of the old "it just wins" mentality.

Just a question why did u buy a horse from far, far, far, North Queensland, other than the fact it won 5 on end, basically on collie/moora type tracks???
  • madmacsmadmacs    58 posts
    Magoo...  :)

I seldom punt, even when very confident, all the boxes are crossed and ticked, I am still relunctant...

In regards to Question 2...  Ummm, well what do you think??  You really must think I am a twit ??

Using your thinking (one should always think before the speak) how easy would it be if one could just buy a horse from as you put Collie/Moora form, through it straight into Saturday grade and be competitive against race fit horses first up...

    I do my home work....

Who was training for u before PT, I know Steve Wallace trained Astra sky as I have been following her, but what about the rest?? Am just curious as to why go from a well known to a virtually unknown trainer??

I am only having a bit of fun... obviously with "tried horses" there are so many factors to look at...

Firstly.... Why was the horse racing there??  Trainer was an ex jock (69) lived up there and just wanted the 1 horse to train... only sold as he was going on overseas holiday for 3 months and did not want to leave the horse with anyone....  Why did he always go for a weight claim??  Not due to ability... preferred an apprentice as she did what she was told....

I also check track records ran on every track in the country... no matter where you are running if you are running quick times over a certain distance... TIME is measurable....  more factors... the last 200 at townsville is slightly down hill so they do run faster anyway so that has to be taken into consideraton.

But if you go back a bit further Penski has ran either 1st or 2nd at Flemington, Moonie Valley, Caulfied, Pakenham, Wagga...  running time and carrying weight.

Anyway that's a few reason why... I have a lot more factors in my criteria before I decide to buy....

Fair enough, was just wondering why you bought it from the "bush"

Any news on how your horse pulled up Chelsea. While getting back last was far from the place to be on Saturday, I was still disappointed it couldnt get past a horse?
