RWWA Report

RWWA Stewards today concluded the adjourned Inquiry into Jockey N. Rudland’s riding of GREATWALL OF CHINA in the straight in Race 7 the Woodside – Pilbara Handicap run over 1800m and held at the Nor-West Jockey Club (Roebourne) on Saturday, 13 July 2013.Evidence was taken from Jockey N. Rudland and Licensed Trainer of GREATWALL OF CHINA Mr P. Dellar.Jockey Rudland was found guilty to a charge under ARR.135(b) for failing to ride GREATWALL OF CHINA with sufficient vigour, purpose and urgency between the 350m and the 100m of the above race where it was reasonable and permissible to do so to ensure that his mount was given full opportunity to win.Jockey Rudland was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of four weeks to commence from midnight 21 July 2013 and to expire at midnight on 18 August 201

Can't believe if a horse gets beaten a nose and the rider " failed to ride with sufficient vigour, purpose and urgency between the 350m and the 100m " on the fav,  that they would only give them 4 weeks . Did he not use the excuse he had mistaken the laps, thought I had won sir,  or something out of Jim "The Jet" Schrader's book of tricks???

My mate saw it!!!!!! 4 weeks is absolutely hilarious.

Years ago, there was a race at York - a 2 horse race. Neither of em trying. Whoever lost was gunna be in trouble. He reckons he was having deja vu from when he was at York. 12 months was the sentence that day.

..i'm like you , i wasn't there but  a mate of mine said it was about as subtle as a turd in a  milk vat !

Protection of the innocent ? - I think not, what about us that backed Great Wall of China.

Same 2 horses were involved in some controversy last year when elbows were thrown in run to the line yet not a great deal was done.

Yep - Port Hedland Cup. Chuck Berry on Indamani (won) from P.Hall who was potentially in strife over what he tried to do in the run to the wire.

Weight isn't the only reason Rudland has to go to outer country tracks to get a ride. On this evidence he doesn't appear to be bothered whether he gets a winner. No diff whether it is Ascot or Roebourne that is a disgrace and four weeks is pitiful.

All I can say is Noel Rudland must have developed 'nerves of steel' in only being beaten an inch and "failing to ....." !!!

more like 'Refusing to let it go.'

weight has never been a problem for Noel, well maybe the same steward who was in charge of the Willow Bridge race at Ascot was in charge, if that is the case Rudland would seem to be hard done by

Shouldn't be any weight issues - there's a big amount off his shoulders after getting just 4 weeks.

Speaking of which, what has happened to Chuck, the King of Port Hedland? Was punching home winner after winner for Anne King up there and just disappeared about 3/4 weeks ago. That's when N Rudland took over. Injured?

Why would it be a weight issue when he would have had to weigh in for running second anyway?

The "weight" would have been the metaphorical weight on his shoulders, subsequently removed when he only got a month.

Now there is a weight issue:

     Saturday's Roebourne Cup

GW of China drops 2.5 to 61   and Indamani meets it 1kg worse off at the  handicap, for beating it a nose when Great Wall of C was hard held ...and 4 kg worse off given there's no claim.

in the olde worlde parlance it simply a " weight certainty"

  • careycarey    6,424 posts
    that's mind boggling raco.

basically great wall of china should meet it on at least the same terms, but it should really meet it something more than the 1.5kg it was last time.

so dishonesty does pay in wa apparently.

Good management to get into the Roebourne Cup with that weight,

Bad management to get caught  !

The punters will pull the Grandstand down after the cup.

...ah Jim "the Jet " Schrader  would be proud - and at little cost ....only a "fishing trip" length holiday for the pilot ...not bad value !

As subtle as a sledgehammer. Where's Fred when you need him to reassure the good citizens of punterland that nothing is astray, all is well, it's just a bunch of fools who can't read a race talking through their pocket. That is why we have credibility difficulties when you have "fishing trip" (well put Rac) penalties for not trying. Found guilty of not trying I might add.
