Ascot R1. Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale Plate Preview - Greg Hooper
I’ll go for (4) CAMPORELLA who started a raging odds on favourite on debut however after racing a bit keenly in front she faded late to be a well beaten second. She was ridden with a sit at her next outing and closed off her race like a nice type. She’s first up no trial but I expect her to be hard to beat.
(1) MOUNTAIN HAZE was super impressive on debut, sitting out the back and circling his rivals in the straight. He can definitely go back to back.
(10) ROSES FOR LILLI was given a stone cold trial. If there is money for her it must be respected.
(6) CHIELO ROSSO has been scratched a couple of times of late but she did trial well.
4. CAMPORELLA - 1. MOUNTAIN HAZE - 10. ROSES FOR LILLI

I’m more than happy to be aboard the Adam Durrant trained gelding (3) DRAGONLEAD. He savaged the line first up over 1000m and then last start he again motored late over the 1409m at Pinjarra. The step up to the mile is ideal and he should be able to park in the first four from his good draw. I think he can shake his maiden tag today.
(11) THESEUS put in a proved effort last week when leading and rolling. He looks the only leader again and with only 53.5kg on his back he’s a chance at odds.
(5) ALWAYS SPECIAL was very unlucky last week when never seeing daylight. She’ll get back but should be running on strongly.
(2) RONNIE TWO defeated Dragonlead at Pinjarra however he might this trickier coming from behind that particular galloper.
3. DRAGONLEAD - 11. THESEUS - 5. ALWAYS SPECIAL
I think Miller win this race with his Shinzig gelding (6) ZENZU. This gelding has only started once back in August of last year where he finished midfield after racing on top of the speed. Going by his impressive trial win he appears to have matured in his break and I think he’ll take a stack of beating first up.
(3) CLOSING TIME has impressed in both his career starts. From barrier 1 he should get the pie run and with Harvey aboard he looks the main danger.
(4) MISS OMERESA is undefeated this preparation and she beat a strong field at Pinjarra.
(2) ZEDSPIEL is suited dropping grade and stepping up in distance.
6. ZENZU - 3. CLOSING TIME - 4. MISS OMERESA
I’m happy to be aboard another Simon Miller trained galloper here with (3) FOXY COMMANDER. She didn’t see out the 1400m last start and the drop back to midweek company and this trip is ideal. She should be able to park inside the first three in running and from there she’ll be hard to beat.
(1) CLASSITHEATRE just found the 1200m a bit too far last start. Back to 1100m she’s the one to rundown.
(9) EJAY’S GIRL was an impressive trialler and got the job done first up. This is harder but she’ll get the right run and has claims.
(4) ESTRALLA resumes from a spell and is very capable at this level.
3. FOXY COMMANDER - 1. CLASSITHEATRE - 9. EJAY'S GIRL
Now that (15) REGAL ROMP is in the field I’m happy to speculate on this Jim Taylor three-year-old. He failed on debut he pulled up shin sore. All his trials have been good and this is not a very strong line up. I think he’ll be very hard to beat.
(6) EXCLUSIVE HONOUR is a non-winner but he’ll be suited by the hot early tempo. This looks a good assignment for him.
(10) WOTCHINYU is an interesting runner. He was belted at his Perth debut last winter however he didn’t fire a shot. He was asked for little in a recent trial and the Pontiff takes the mount.
(5) IT’S A MERC was given no chance at his most recent outing. He’s a much better horse when sitting over the speed.
15. REGAL ROMP - 6. EXCLUSIVE HONOUR - 10. WOTCHINYU
I’ve settled on the last start winner (2) ASSETS ‘N’ CASH. He was impressive at Pinjarra coming off a couple of soft trials. The draw is a concern however if he is ridden positively he might be able to land a spot without spending too much early fuel.
(11) ULTIMATE SUCCESS looks ready to fire now. He put in an eye catching performance at his most outing. The issue with him could be the sluggish tempo.
(1) TONED finds it hard to win but always has claims.
(10) SOONEST will lead and is a good first four chance from that role.
2. ASSETS 'N' CASH - 11. ULTIMATE SUCCESS - 1. TONED
Although he was a narrow victor the win of Soo Auspicous was full of merit as he was taken to the lead a long way from home, looked in big trouble at the 100m but found again late to cling on. There looks to be more speed in this race with the likes of Right Honourable, Gigstar and Memphis Playboy. I can see Carbery coming over with the speed and blending in nicely to get a trail and from there I think he’ll relish the 1400m and be hard to beat.
(1) DISCOVERERS has to be respected on his first up nose second to Soo Auspicous. The concern with him is 1 win from 18 starts.
(12) MEMPHIS PLAYBOY is still a maiden but can sit handy and be more than competitive.
(7) APLORABLE has excuses last start and he should get a very soft run from his draw.
6. SOO AUSPICIOUS - 1. DISCOVERERS - 12. MEMPHIS PLAYBOY
. (7) AMPHLETT came to Perth with good form so it was no surprise to see her run a very good race at her WA debut. She raced a bit keen so the blinkers have been removed. She’s drawn nicely, should get the right run and prove very hard to beat.
(9) BLACK MAGIC MISS is very close to a win and looks the obvious danger. She’s screaming out for the 1400m, the only query is where she lands from her wide gate.
(13) WE’VE GOT TONIGHT had no luck last start. She could be the big improver at odds.
(3) ANGEL WING finds it hard to win but may go forward from her wide draw and give some cheek.
7. AMPHLETT - 9. BLACK MAGIC MISS - 13. WE'VE GOT TONIGHT
Fitzrada should be in it at the end again.
I agree with Hoopsy on Regal Romp as well, should be around the $7 mark
Especially in the last 2 races of the day
Chiello Rossa in the first should be good e/w value..hopefully!!
have jsut checked the results of the race and the time of your post....finally declared one on here and it comes in and pays close to $10...WOOHOO for me!!!!
zero loss, zero gain!
PD took the run that Ejays Girl should have had, had it of got it, the result would have gone its way :-((
big day for that lad!
