All systems go for Moet

Jay Rooney, The West Australian February 4, 2013, 7:35 am

Trainer Adam Durrant is confident of a big return by Mr Moet when the Railway Stakes winner makes his interstate debut in Saturday's Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Mr Moet arrived in Melbourne on Friday to prepare for a tilt at the Group 1 $1 million Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 9.

Durrant reported Mr Moet had travelled well and had thrived at Jason Warren's Mornington stables. Mr Moet earned an interstate trip with a breakout summer campaign at Ascot, highlighted by his upset win in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) first-up in November.

The five-year-old showed the big win was no fluke, running second to Luckygray in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), winning the CB Cox Stakes (2200m) and running second to Talent Show with the 59kg topweight in the Perth Cup (2400m).

Jockey Daniel Staeck rode Mr Moet in all four races and is booked for the ride in the Orr Stakes. He will head to Melbourne today and ride Mr Moet in a track gallop at Mornington tomorrow.

Durrant said Mr Moet was on track to prove his credentials against strong opposition in the Orr.

"We feel he's going better than he was before the Railway," Durrant said. "He's nice and bright and doing everything right.

"We've tried to keep him fresh and keep the sprint in his legs. He'll have a gallop on Tuesday and won't do much between then and Saturday.

"The 1400 on the Caulfield track might be a fraction short, but he'll give it a big shake."

The likes of star three-year-old All Too Hard, Mawingo, Wall Street and King Mufhasa are set to join Mr Moet in the Orr.

Trainer Simon Miller has confirmed Power Princess will head to the Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) at Kranji on May 19.

Power Princess is likely to return to Adelaide for the RN Irwin Stakes (1100m) and Group 1 Sportingbet Classic (1200m) on April 13 and 27 before heading to Singapore.

She ran third to Black Caviar in last year's Sportingbet Classic. She won the AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m) and ran second to Barakey in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot in the summer.

Dongara trainer Noel Pateman has scrapped plans to set Full Steam Ahead for Saturday week's Detonator Stakes (1800m) at Ascot.

Full Steam Ahead was scratched from a 1400m race at Ascot last Saturday because of a heatwave in the Mid West. He will be nominated for a 1400m race for 68-plus rated gallopers at Ascot on Saturday.

Going to be a great race with All Too Hard resuming he should be primed this being group1 over 1400m nice for his stud career and there looks like alot of pace in the race King Mufasa,Le Remas and a couple of others should run along no idea how Mr Moet would go over 1400m couldnt back him.

fillies do it tough in Singapore, it would want to settle in very quickly to have a chance, Rocket Man is back and flying

it's smart, but no in the same class as Power P, if she settles in she will take some beating

I actually think the only one of the 3 local horses [Barakey,Luckgrey and Mr Moet] i think Luckgrey is the one he has been over there b4 and looks like he has furnished into a nice good type ,the Newmarket is always run flat chat so coming of the back of them down the middle might be the place im happy to punt the grey horse up ive said it before i think Barakey will struggle over there he sits on top of a hot speed and it just might bring him undone and MM im not sure what to make of his form line going into some the big WFA races he looks a Flemington horse for mine but i will tred gently with him also.
Good luck to all on there travels

If Staecky gives Mr Moet the ride he gave him in the railway, i genuinely think he'll win Saturday against that lot over the 1400m. He is rock hard fit and will sit just off the speed and has shown in the past that fresh has a great turn of foot over the shorter trip. Happy to back Durrants judgement every day of the week. Interested to see what odds are thrown up.

Hope its better than the last perth horse that came here for the race was a big flop but the bookmakers loved it !

Easy tiger 3 wide snagged back to last horse breaks down in front of him and goes 8 wide on the turn to get beat about 6 lengths was a miracle should have finished last !!!

Interesting to note that Mr Moet has won 1st up over 1400m at his last two of his last three preperations in Perth albeit against much weaker opposition. I'm sure whatever he does in Melbourne on Saturday he'll only improve on as the distances increase.

Essentially last 3 in the run ran first 3... on a leader biased track. And you have le remas beaten at G1 level by 2lenghts. Doesn't really make for a good form race.

How far did he need to win by for you consider it as good a run as it looked?

Maybe beat the 30mil colt by 5 lengths.
