    Both Parnham horses drew nicely, they will be camped just off the speed when Fat Al comes accross. Be interesting to see if WRKD wants to lead or Fat Al does.
    Can see Ranger getting a nice run as well from his barrier, if he is well enough and fit enough im sure he will be in this. Cant go past Luckygray though, even with the weight i think he is in this all day.
    Don't reckon it matters who gets to the lead, if LG is half the horse we think it is there will be no excuse for him not getting ther on his own merits.....the whole field is just about drawn to give him the race exactly as he wants it.
    Will have a save on Ranger, but LG for me.

    Re Luckygray. Why was he able to give a massive amount of weight to horses over 1400m on June 9 and win with ease then struggle at WFA 1600m 2 weeks later against some of the same type of horses, in particular Grand Nirvana? That suggests to me that he isn't a true G1 miler and although he sort of won this race last year he did have 53kg and not 58kg and his run seemed to end 50m out that day. Just a theory, that could, admittedly, be way off the mark

    I'm starting to warm to Fat Al. Emirates run was first run in a month and wasn't disgraced there either.
    Drawn to get the gun run and track and our start, stop, start racing pattern in WA should suit.
    The hoop sits on em ok too!

    Likewise Funkster. Leaders never win the Emirates and there was a massive pace collapse this year for whatever reason. They went too quickly early in that race. How does Luckygray get 58kg and him only 57kg? LG has won a G1 in the West and Fat Al a G1 in the East and FA actually gets assigned less weight here than was allocated in the Emirates??? The barrier a bonus and the race only has a moderate tempo on paper. Both Gathering and Sniper's Bullet won this off a poor effort in Melbourne and were both on pacers in the Railway. And excepting Luckygray & perhaps Ranger the Perth horses look to be a bit below par this year. I've been saying that for weeks though re Nicblick and it hasn't come to fruition yet!

    Phil have you just woken up from a slumber with snow white, thats how believable your theory is. The trainer gave him a short let up prior to that 1600m WFA race, due to his up coming Melb runs. Even he said after the race that he probably gave him too much of a rest. He still wins, being 85% fit. He is in this race up to his eye balls, even giving Ranger 5kg.
    I just hope if he wins this race, people will actually agree that he is a very good horse.

    On your weights comment, i agree though. Seems a bit strange how the horses that come over from the East never get a top weight. When they have been racing against supposably "the best" in Australia. Also a little bit strange how Yosie gets 55kg when she has won 3 group 1's. Surely she gets 56kg with having as much money as Luckygray but getting the mares 2kg allowance. As well as Playing god winning 2 group 1's, and Wall street having 3 group 1's i think.

    If i can guarantee anything, if Luckygray gets to the outside on the corner with a clear running. He will be very hard to beat. Even if Ranger looms up beside him with that 5kg less, Luckygray will be able to run a quicker last 600m than anyone in this race.

    The horse is flying. Only a crab will get in his way and hold him out, with clear running he won't be beaten. I believe the handicapper was generous this year. If he does win it will be interesting to see what weight is assigned next year.

    Greetings from broome forumites!

    I'm on Mr moet at 60s, while there are other fish to fry over longer distances, he'll be working home nicely and a place wouldn't surprise. There was 250s available with sports bet I am lead to believe. Fat Al will take a power of beating, with more astute players taking the 21s early.

    Very easy getting on the beers here, the next two months will be tough!

    But the handicapper is never wrong as they say no he might well have the last laugh with Luickygray. And if he does win he is a very good horse, at least in the West!

    Jeez Phil your clearly all over racing Aust Wide, ha ha. That comment comes with complete sarcasm. Unlike people over east, we in the West try to keep in touch with racing Aust wide as we know we are not the Mecca of the racing world unlike the people in Melb on their own racing.

    If Luckygray doesnt beat Fat Al and Yosei home, i will be shocked. 2 points i would like to make on these two from over east. 1-Fat Al has Nash Rawiller on board, oh how i was glad to see this pilot after his poor spring form. He couldnt pilot his car into his own garage the way he is going. 2-Yosei is drawn in the River, although she gets back and i think Rodd is a decent rider for her. She just better bring her flippers along so she can swim the first 200m of the race.

    Its funny how when a WA horse goes East, people are more than happy to await the failure and then say "i told you so". Fact is they are coming over here to try and win Group 1 races, because of the perceived 'lack of depth' of Perth racing. However they still struggle to win when they get here.
    Like most Western Australians, i cant wait for the last 200m of the Railway on Saturday when Luckygray shoots past Fat Al as if he resembles his name.

    Sniper's Bullet couldn't get out of his own way over east and won the double. He's Remarkable G2 at best in East - won it. Gathering - G3 (or lower) at best in East - bolted in . . . .

    At the same time how can you explain your infatuation with LG, the only two chances in that race drew barrier 1 and 2 and were completely out of play; WRKD looked like a see-saw going down the straight. In the end he's beaten god has spoken. Absolute non race.

    I would have to agree that he is suspect at the 1600m+ at this level.

    Vorg this is a forum, therefore everyone is open to their opinion.
    All i know is that with my money on Luckygray, he will be gunning them down late and i know he will be in the top 3.
    Hopefully after Saturday, people like yourself wont have any doubts that he is a decent miler.

    No sarcasm whatsover RG. I've always been a huge fan of WA horses who travel East and been at pains to point out how good a race this is for the locals historically over the years. Pretty funny actually that you have formed an opinion of me as a biased Eastern Stater. Nothing could be further from the truth mate. Generally speaking I concentrate on the best racing wherever it is at any given time, whether it be Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, NZ, Singapore, Hong Kong or Timbucktoo for that matter. Why would I have been spruiking Ranger from the off if I was what you think I am?

    I have done the history of this race btw and the ideal candidate is definitely MASCHINO. A 4 or 5yo right down in the weights, in form, dropping in weight and drawn okay is your typical Railway winner. Racing on pace or no further back than midfield is also a massive bonus but not sure he fits that model?
