Hong Kong Jockey Club Sprint G2
West Australian Racing
Looking far and wide today for a backable commodity at good odds and think I might have found one.
This race features the 2 class HK Sprinters Lucky Nine & Little Bridge. Their form is definitely the benchmark in this race but both are being prepared for a G1 Sprint in 2 weeks time and reportedly underdone for this. Little Bridge has had a wind operation that has supposedly been successful but you never really know the consequences until maximim pressure is applied in a real race, as opposed to a Barrier trial. Both return from a G1 race in Japan on September 30.
ADMIRATION is not that far behind these 2 having met them on separate occasions and finishing within 2L of both at level weights. Importantly today he gets 2kg off them and has a fitness edge. His 2 runs since a spell haven’t exactly set the world on fire over 1400m and a mile but he does drop in weight off both of those runs and his record does read much better carrying less than 57kg than when shouldering more than that. He is a G2 winner at a mile but below that distance his form seeems even better. At 1200m he has 3 wins and 2 placings from 7 attempts. Drawing well is a distinct bonus. From barriers 1-3 he has 4 wins and 2 placings from 7 starts opposed to only 1 win from 9 wider drawn than that. With 15-21 days between runs his stats read identical with 4 wins from 7 and it is 21 days since he last started today.
Freshened up from 1600m back to 1200m today is a query but Blinkers have been added (again) to offset that. I’d expect him to race prominently with them on be and ready to pounce on the leaders around the turn. I’m expecting him to be better than double figure odds today and he definitely represents the value in this lineup.
Lucky Nine really does have the wood on Little Bridge having beaten that horse on 6 of the 7 occasions they have met. And LB has a far better record at 1000m than todays longer distance of 1200m. Singapore galloper Super Easy has a sensational winning strike rate but had his colours lowered last time by subsequent Gold Cup winner Better Life. The Singapore Sprint form does look about 5-6 lengths inferior to the best in Hong Kong drawing a line through Captain Obvious He raced in Japan recently against LN & LB so I can’t quite see Super Easy winning today, though he does have better fitness levels than most of these.

Big fan of Lucky Nine but fitness maybe an issue given this article.

Like the chances of Californian Dream and Ambitious Dragon as well.
I thought I was doing well to get $4 on fixed odds, just before the race I had more on and got cut right down to size $2.60 :(
replay.
hong kong makes nearly everywhere else look ordinary, and it's all free.
i will however add now that IMO the Perth coverage could be improved...when funds or sponsorship is available..yes i am a PR and RWWA kicker..at every opportunity......cos they both provide a lot of kicking fodder...Fix their problems and i and many others will stop having digs..
