As we all know by now (and if some don't then you know now), Ethiopia is a WA horse. Born in WA but races in the eastern states, but he's still a genuine WA horse.

Ok that's out of the way. My question is.....can Ethiopia win the Melbourne Cup? A lot of people rate him as a good chance. My opinion is that it might come too early for him but who knows what the future holds for this horse.

Interested to see what you all think.

Cheers,
PC.

dunno how it qualifies as being a wa horse, not that it matters.

was kingston town a victorian horse??

by your logic it must have been.

horses are horses are horses imo.

Doriemus is missing from that list

Hope he pulls up well and is full steam ahead for the cup minus blinkers. :(

No Doriemus was not a WA horse. I'm talking about WA BORN horses. Just because Doriemus was a WA-owned doesn't in my mind make him a WA horse. If that was the case then he would be considered for the WA Racing Hall of Fame.

As for Ethiopia - I will say this one more time as I have said it before. Ethiopia is a WA horse because he was born in WA - but he is trained in the eastern states the fact is though that he is a WA horse. Ethiopia is in the same boat as Cedarberg and Black Knight - both of these horses were born in WA but ran in the eastern states.

Fact is that Ethiopia is a WA horse.

maybe we can give him dual nationality. =))
or ask the horse what he wants to be! =))

Carey Im serious mate. Ethiopia is a WA horse. If he wasn't then I wouldn't make a thread about him. I always like to keep track of the WA horses and how they go in the east.

yes, i know you are serious and that's fair enough, i just don't see how it matters.
maybe i have a vested interest considering the trainer's name. =))

To settle the argument the horse is Ethiopian.

...ahhh, That's explains why he's a bit on the skinny side

I guess I am making a fuss about this horse is because he is a WA horse and probably WA's best chance of doing well in the Melbourne Cup since 1999. His form has been good leading into the Cup.
