Not an overly strong list of nominations for this years running of the Beaufine. What does everyone make of it?

Werd to me looks extremely hard to beat and for a bit of value i'll put Megems boy in there too. He's a real 1000m specialist this horse and a lot of the other horses are better suited over a bit more ground. He should get a nice cosy run from barrier 2 and won't be far off them.

It'll be interesting to see how Right Time goes stepping up in class too.

You would think that Megem's would get a spot from that barrier and not have to do much at the start of the race..Last time Pikey on it wins. He's ridden it 6 times for a 2-1-2 record and one 5th over 1200m.

Came home as fast as Right Time last start and if he gets a good sit, not being so far back should allow him to kick down the straight....well it's a theory anyway.

Altho i do like Werd fresh... :?

With the noms looking pretty light on for the Beaufine, which other horses will be around for the Newmarket (1200m) on the 11th of Aug and the Goodwood (1300m) on the 25th Aug?

Barakey is the obvious one and if he steps up, they might be very average looking races.

Trainer will need to look at the rating system before he confirms he is running

Would have thought the 25th may be a bit early for him. From memory he is only about 5 weeks back in work. But is is supposed to have a hit out here to blow out any cobwebs prior to going to Melbourne.

Dungy your cracking me up at the moment! spot on! Getting very tired of it and I suppose the other trainers are as well about hearing how right he is and how wrong everyone else are.

8 from 8 and now a Stakes Winner ?? What is to get tired of ? In November he will win a Group 1 after returning from Victoria where he will see just how good he really is.

I don't get tired of watching good horses win.

A question for anyone, but carey will probably answer..If Right Time comes 2nd or 3rd, what sort of rating penalty would it expect???

Oh and by the way, as an owner i wouldn't take the chance of accumulating that many points for $20k.

And th bottom story about Sydney Business Man...so good to hear that common sense prevailed.

Jimmy said on the radio this morning that Barakey will be back in about October. So, who does that leave for the said races above in the next month?

Simple maths. 10 pts for winning a $80K race with a meaningless suffix attached . . . or 4 points for winning a $50K race (that also happens to be exponentially easier to win) . . . no brainer

Most people take off their head and put on a pumpkin when they get a good horse. JT has banked $, kept rating down, and most importantly, never really had either HL or BK screwed down 100% when kept to rating races - giving them every possible to grow and develop to full potential.

Surely anyone bagging is tongue in cheek. Should be applauded. If you had a real good one and were shopping for a trainer, couldn't go anyplace else here really IMO.

I wonder if Athena's me mum is in the mile race (R3) with apprentice on, in order to do the ol' lead and blaze with apprentice on.....a bit like Naku Penda and Seth's Blessed a few months back?

Not much more coming through the trials at this stage and not much around..Perhaps a few extra dollars for some of the second stringers.....Bit like the winter 2000m+ races!!!

Looks like Right Time is running despite yesterday's story in the West.

sure does. if you go to the market, it has a button saying fixed odds flucs on the top right.

    right Time $5 to $3.20
    Werd $5.50 to $4.40
Answers Are $7 to $12 (this was their big mistake in my opinion).
    Caves road $8 to $12.

Three horse race according to the odds... I think a roughie could sneak in there and challenge.

Hard to make a form-based case for any of the others though
  • latoria not mentioned, has been solid at $5
it or werd are the two im keen on
is right time up to this company? isnt much of a field so if it were to take the next step this race would be it

  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
not necessarily Dung...Identity Fraud was only 50/50 to go Saturday...was being nommed also for Wednesday. I suppose bullet took the more certain starter for Saturday. Rides a lot for Rowey aswell.

Quite a few jockey changes with Willie now back and Donga out. Verscene is one who will notice the difference I think.

Warming to Tax A Million in the last at this stage. THe 6th race is a cracker for mine. Pete and Strada are flying and if Military Secret can repeat, should be a most competetive race.

Was doing the replays from last weekend i can say Donga owns the 2 worst rides of that day Fortescue Flyer he took of way to early if saved up it would have won and Rantorini drawn 2 sits 3 deep the entire mmmmm moral beaten
