Does anyone out there know if there is going to be an inspection day for the horses on sale on Sunday??

Or do you just have to get there early on Sunday morning and have a look, drag the vet out, etc, etc???

Can't find any notice on the web page about inspections...Obviously i can wait until tomorrow and ring them up, but just wondering if anyone out there knows the drill.

I don't think there will be much stock there on Saturday, perhaps in the afternoon. Getting them out may be the issue. Unless you drive your own Vet there, there won't be anyone I would think until they start scoping during the sale. I can't imagine a single horse having x-rays in this sale

there seems to be a few older ones in the sale. if you look online there are at least 50 born in 1970..... should be a few good years left in them still.

Looking at the results, I would say no. At best perhaps four of them were buy backs, but being on hand I can tell you that they had a forlorn look as each lot went through the ring for not much money for the majority.

The very reason they were required to sell, was in fact the very reason they had to let the good ones go.

I feel a bit sorry for them as a Vendor in the years ahead, this sale and the one that follows in June or July, will see their stock holdings dramatically reduced as a selling vendor at upcoming sales. The one saving grace for them is the commercial appeal of Blackfriars and the huge number of outside mares he covers for them each season.

Their hands were tied (due to legals), and were unable to buy any back.
    All sales were genuine.

Yes I thought that this sale for them was akin to watching the family home go up in flames

ha !! On behalf of a client, signed for three of them. The unraced half sister to Gilded Venom & Scenic Blast for $1500 and she is only 11yo, to my way of thinking is one of those bargains that come along only every now and again. She will most likely head straight back to Blackfriars as it turns out, once she has had the Universal Ruler foal in October. Matches up very well with him.

They certainly had a day of highs and lows...and if they get over it i dont reckon it will be in a hurry....but as stated elswhere here, they do have Blackfriars to work with, and should get a full book for the next few seasons with him... That will be the start of the re-build

Yep, thought that one was a bargain - resulting foal is a 5/8 (or something) to Scenic Blast

Idyllic Princess too - foal to drop on same cross as $1m+ earning half brother, was a bargain

And Just Superb for $7k - foal to drop with be the "Marasco" Scenic / Is It True cross

Alright lads can you let us in on the reason for selling all the good mares?

Two Studs sold for very different reasons. One Stud was following a direction from a Court, and the other due to an illness.

In both cases it was just tinged with a little regret, as both businesses have had to let a piece of the dream go.
