ny thoughts on this years Perth Cup?? Can Ranger do the distance??

    Ranger wont be in it thats a given he has 58kg now if he wins Saturday which he will he will cop a penalty no chance of running his stablemate is the one Lords Ranson get on now because he will run top 4 Saturday and his price will half

    that would have been awkward, rocking up all primed on NYD

    i tipped Dancin on the Wind early, really was taken by the run of Ladysea last week and am very keen to see how performs on the weekend

    Last year the lowest rated horse 3 weeks out got a run on the day as a 69 (and won it :shock: ), and couple others right near the bottom got in too.

    That won't happen this year, a 77 or higher will miss out. Few that are badly out of form (Volcanic Causeway, Viscount Cameron) that I hope don't take the spot of something that isn't.

    Not sure why New Spice isn't running in this, has gone the 3 week gap, will be giving the field kegs in ATA and then will have to back up . . . . maybe it won't make it?

    In terms of breeding, Ranger should be able to run the 2400m (that's of course if he runs in the Perth Cup).

    His Sire is Testa Rossa and the Dam is Marrich Bay. But a further look will tell you that the Sire of Marrich Bay is.............Old Spice - and he produced handy stayers.

    Ranger's only start at 2400m was in the 2011 Perth Cup where he finished 11th. Talent wise - he can run the trip but I guess its a bit of an unknown if he can run a strong 2400m.

    A sit-and-sprint 2400m might suit him better.

    It wdoesnt matter anyway as he wont be heading to the cup no matter what todays will be his last run then of to the paddock

    Ranger becomes a problem now with Ringmeister and Double Barrel both scr drawn inside him so he jumps from 2 dont like that at all with Wipsaw inside him he will drop on the fence its got trouble written all over it

    Gee after today Mark Reeds horse looks a weight special @ 4.40 ias thats not bad drops from 59kg to 53 kg was hitting the line better than anything today Chopper said on the radio last week that this horse will peak cup day cant see Ranger or Lords Ranson after todays efforts running a hole GHS has to be a chance but your not going to get that run every day of the week are you ??

    I don't think Bob Peters will push on with the campaign of Ranger and Lords Ransom in the Perth Cup. Ranger defiantely looks gone, and that would put Lords Ransom on 58kg and with that he couldn't win with a headstart.

    So if the top two come out, Battle Emblem, Kincaple, and God Has Spoken all go to 58kg. Someone correct me if I am wrong. That being the case, Battle Emblem won't be able to carry that weight and get within 4 lengths of GHS, and Kincaple tops out at about 57kgs it appears, so it looks like a race in one.

    The rest of the field will most likely fair badly on weight at declarations if the top two nominations come out, such is the poor quality of this field.

    Just can't help but think that this is a joke compared to what was a time honoured two mile event, even with a sub standard field. They shortened it to improve the quality and try and hang onto Group 2 status, but this is now not even a Listed event if the above happens.

    Damien ,Kincaple carried and won with 58.5 and 57 last prep weight will be no problem if they went another 100m Saturday it wins easy Read has said the entire prep he will peak cup day GHS never won beyond Sat trip and will not get the same run again couldnt have worked out better and same with Playing God this family are not out an out stayers 2400m Kincaple will eat the ground and the field his run Sat with 59kg had be on me next start !!!!
    I no what im backing as Lords Ransom is scr now im happy to be on Kincaple at 4.40

    if it starts i will be all over ELUSIVE KING with 52kg at anywhere near double figures, thats if it comes over.

    Just reading in The West, the penalty for God Has Spoken, and the decision by Bob Peters already to not accept with Lord's Ransom. So if Ranger comes out, I as expect him to, we go the scenario I referred to earlier. What I didn't realise but have now, that with the field from 7 down all being wieghted currently on 52 kg, where are all these riders going to come from to make that weight ?
