RIP Staying Races in WA, that is rubbish. If Bob's horses stay sound, and they are ridden well, they will walk it in.

Dancin' on the Wind could be a light weight chance. Would probably need to win Saturday in the 2200 to get the rating up. Then into the ATA 2 weeks later, could force its way into the field.

Like it with Harvey on Saturday.

Lopov is an interesting contender. Danny O'Brien described Lopov as the toughest horse he had trained. Now it gets the Simon Miller touch.

If Lopov was any good they wouldn't...

It just might be the one. Win at G2 over 2400 and then head off for a jumps career.

was $26 with player before todays win, now into $12. if Harvey stays with it, i will too, but i think $12 may be a bit short. I might shop around with the online bookies. Mark my word, this is the winner of the perth cup.

Ponty wont be staying with it because it will get around 51/52kg and thats if it gets a run and no way the great one will ride at that weight anymore he will be riding Tranquility i would have thought ,Pike probably Lords Ransom,or Ranger if he goes there

So if (when) Ranger comes out, is the entire field raised two kilo or does the handicapper get another chance at spreading them out from 58 to 52???
  • TheFunksterTheFunkster    3,840 posts
After weights released i think it is just a min 57kg topweight so instead of a 97 rating will become a 95, which in effect doesn't effect any horses on the min, only those rated above the min will go up a kilo

So this is a Gr 2 huh ? Possibly only one horse rated above 100 accepting. This may not even survive as a Gr 3 at this rate and go straight to Listed.

Well done to those who said that reducing the distance would improve the field. They should all hand their badges in and go and meddle in something else.

If that's correct then great. I recall this clause being brought in here due to 'creative' top weight nominations by team cerise and white. But I may be mistaken.

Pretty sure this year all runners weights were raised for Caulfield Cup in similar situation. Races like that harder to manipulate obviously
