RWWA Stewards advise that arrangements have been put in place for enhanced security and integrity measures this Saturday for the running of the Carlton Draught Railway Stakes, Burswood Winterbottom Stakes and W. A. Guineas.
As has been practice in previous years, security guards will again be in place at the stables of all runners contesting the Railway Stakes prior to the race and until such time as the horses are presented on course for pre-race testing.
All runners in the Carlton Draught Railway Stakes, Burswood Winterbottom Stakes and W. A. Guineas will be required to be on course 2 hours prior to starting time and will be subject to pre-race testing.
Trainers of runners will be fully advised by the Stewards with regard to these measures and requirements.
Increased sampling of runners at the race meeting will also take place which will include additional post-race testing as determined by the Stewards. As provided for by Australian Racing Rule 178DD, samples taken from runners are subject to long-term storage at the direction of the Stewards for future analysis or resubmitted for testing at a later time. To assist with increased sampling processes additional veterinary staff will be on duty on the day.
Stewards and RWWA Veterinarians will also be conducting stable visits of all runners on Friday.
With the support of Perth Racing, additional barrier attendants will be on duty for the day to ensure high standards with the loading of horses is maintained.
Stewards will also be addressing all riders? prior to the main events to reinforce their obligations under the rules and riders? will be placed on notice that higher penalties may result in the event of race interference.
An increased number of Stewards and RWWA Investigators will also be present on the day to ensure high standards in all matters and the successful running of the race meeting.
