WHY?

He is riding some slow ones. Rarely rides a winner. Is he on a massive contract or what?

Because the only rides he can get back here are for example

    sincero in the stradbroke

    :P :P

    Kidding aren't you.
Rides a winner almost every Meeting.
Is getting quite a few decent rides of late, far from making up numbers - Champions never do.

Would have been handy in the last on Ravoux last night - ran into two massive dead ends down the straight and got going late to get beat a half-length, probably the best thing beaten I've seen in a month.

    Keep following.

Agree Choc, idiotic post by slip.

Have followed him closely since he went up and he has done well. Picked up a ride on Scared Kingdom in the sprint as well as a ride in the $3 million cup. Riding twice a week only and 25 degrees at trackwork every morning as opposed to freezing his nuts off and driving to some provincial meet in the arvo - must have been a really tough decision for him!!!

Just watched Ravoux replay on the net and he was a cert beaten.

I don't question Boss' ability and I understand the more comfortable conditions in Singapore but I thought he would ride more winners there. He isn't landing a winner a meeting but his average at just under 11% strike rate is very similar to his Oz strike rate.
  • slipatiptomeslipatiptome    3,351 posts
Boss' strike rate down to about 10% after today. Verenzuela has a very good rate at over 20% (Double including $37 winner today) and Vlad Duric has done well at just under 20%.

Maybe some of his rides are not trying !

Tell me what you think, I can pinpoint two rides today where he's either done the wrong thing or doesnt appear to be trying - one of the worst accusations you can throw at a jock.
Its not as if his rides are hundreds either - the Boss we know wouldn't be throwing that up.
  • your kidding arnt you Choc, bloke has ridden all over Asia, he knows how it works and is a good operator, riding for a very smart stable, just be patient. How long has he left of his 3 months? tipping his last few meetings will be very rewarding

Watch the last race friday night ! I have heard he hates singapore .

Nice way to finish with a double today.
Never went around a horse the last winner (on a Danetime too!)

Classic interview after the last then on TVN - what was that about??
    Help us out FF.
  • his last meeting today, back to Vic
  • chocchoc    789 posts
No I realise - I'm referring to the ending.

Interviewer posed something along the lines of - "good to have a jockey of your calibre here over the last three months, you must have enjoyed it..."
Boss says, "well I don't know about that - but thanks anyway".
Interviewer says "rubbish..." then its cut off.

Obviously an acromonious end to cut off the stint exactly three months in.
Could have rode Clint in the Derby, but assuming that's not the be all & end all.

Was dubious over some of his rides in recent times, but Boss of old today I felt - but potentially more to it, dont know the guy personally, but the exodus of jocks here continues...

My opening line to this topic has stood the test of Boss' time in Singapore. He probably can't leave there quick enough.
  • chocchoc    789 posts
My original opinion was that you were questioning the level of Singapore racing, which is why I was defensive.
The more I look into it though, the more I am dubious

Idiotic post was it Jacose? Even Boss would agree with me now.

And to you Choc no I wasn't questioning Singapore Racing I was questioning the decision by Boss especially as he was going strongly here. No doubt in the same time period he would have made more bucks here (not that he needs them). Surely you would agree Choc that if you're going to ride in Asia then Hong Kong is a better option than Singapore but of course Boss would've had to have waited longer for the invite.

    Yep, completely idiotic.

Why would Boss agree with you? Based on What? That FF said he didn't like the place?

I don't know, just as you don't know whether he enjoyed himself or not but I would say the fact his wife and kids are back home would be the only reason he would be happy to go home.

10 winners from 109 rides with the sun on his back everyday, bloody hard way to spend an Aussie winter!!

The interview on Sunday went a little like this:
INT "Glen Singapore is all the better for having you ride here the last three months"
BOSS "Well I dont know about that but thanks"
    INT "Rubbish, well done"

    Nothing sinister there Choc.

So we can expect Bossie to be away sunning himself every Aussie Winter from now on.

Did he move from Sydney to Melbourne for the weather?

Heard he made 60k plus just yesterday !

I think he moved to Melbourne because he couldn't get a ride in the six horse fields in Sydney at the time. I would be pretty sure he hasn't regretted the move though.

He might struggle to get back into Singapore even if he wanted too as I hear he actually left two weeks short of his contract. When you break contract with the club up there you generally don't get a second chance - ask King Callow!

Someone told me at the track on Saturday that Damien Kinnamont got married up in Sing last week - if thats the case congratulations - a genuine good bloke.

Does that breach of contract hinder any hope if for example Hong Kong considered him? I presume it does.

I wouldn't think so. I just think that for some reason Singapore don't like it when jockey's leave early.

I was up there for the Cup and Sprint this year and asked someone why Callow hadn't come back and they told me that a trainer had applied for him to ride in a feature race in Sing when he was based in Malaysia and the STC knocked him back probably because he had buggered off early from his contract a few years ago.

Think you will find Callow owes Singapore Govt a lot of money in taxes he didnt pay so would not be aloud in the country till its payed .
  • Boss would not have any trouble getting a gig in Spore again if he wished I would have thought
