You gotta keep your eye on things like this...
Reckon Ive stepped on a Chinaman. Was on Proud Hero and earlier in the day, thought Pattie Me Lass was a bit stiff. Good luck with the remainder.
The last 2 Saturdays have been epic failures for me.
sweet serenity and the kat would have made a massive day!
I hate to say this but after the Derby I said IJ would never win another race. Sadly, that prediction seems true.
It is a classic case of to the well once too often....I'd say she would be off to the breeding barn.
KKK...up to a mile only..pulled its head off...
I know the strickland stakes was slower tempo, but the oaks was almost 3 sec slower than the Dayana?
Interesting....
1. The Strickland was run at a farcial tempo - none of the Jockeys showed any nouse. KKK and BE over-raced most of the race. GHS was the only horse who managed to settle. The tactics aboard IJ were terrible and contributed to her poor performance.
2. The Dayana was a good race run at a solid tempo = the first 5 or so horses across the line all have good racing careers ahead of them.
3. The Strickland was run at a very slow tempo but this was because the leaders aren't very good and lack staying ability. The winner and the 4th horse have some potential. Sweet Serenity may have had some excuses but should have done better and IMO probably not a stayer - at best a miler.
all of us thought that if the pace was slow (like it was), Dasher would take off and fix that. His choice not to, and sit three wide on Kawatiri, really changed the outcome of the race.
