Relieved I didn't lob Darkshines in round 1!

Would have made for an early exit for me at the hands of the Prince of WA Punting :cheesy:

Are the best scoring 28 losers this week advancing to the next round? It won't be of concern to me(phillips101) I'm just thinking of others. 200, 128,64,32 etc

I have noticed though that with the tipping comp running, no one is tipping on this forum.

    each week, the numbers half.
when there is a week with uneven numbers, we will introduce a wild card to even them up.
the wild card will be the highest overall scorer who has been knocked out of the comp.
so even if you get knocked out, you will continue to tip and try to achieve the highest overall score as you may be introduced as a wild card later in teh comp.

Nelson is scratched yes, has always shown signs of lameness!

Before the start of race 1
    No late changes.
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
tipping closes 30 mins before the first.

did you use the same username and password as the forum?
I think you may have used different user for the UTC?

sorry diva are you able to send me my login details? im an idiot i have no idea what they are
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
tipping starts this week. We will send an email when the fields have been entered.
It might pay everyone to try and log in prior to saturday morning as many of you have forgotten your log in details.

Your user names are the ones that appear in the list under the tipping tab (which will be the ladder). There will be a function you can perform if you have forgotten your password.....stay tuned.

tipping closes 30 mins before the first race. You can go back in and change your tips any time up to close off.

Tipping is now open for week one of UTC.

only problem with this competition is that there is no incentive to tip outside the horses tight in the market.
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
this comp is not about making money....its about tipping winners. I fully expect some people will have two sets of tips. These tips designed to pick winners and knock out your opponent, while some of the media tipsters may well tip differently for value in their media tips.

Also, dont forget to keep tipping even if you are knocked out as there will be wild cards granted to those with the overall highest points tally at certain points throughout the comp.

what happens when two people both pick all the favourites and its a tie in the first round (given the nature of the competition this is likely)
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
We'll deal with that if it happens, but most likely if its a dead set draw, they will play off again the week after.

    Looks good.

When is the draw posted and is it posted in this thread ?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts

On he homepage there is now a table with the percentage of people that have tipped each horse. this will change throughout the day (tomorrow) as each race is completed.
Will give everyone a guide of where the 'sentiment' is for each race.

Personally I don't like this feature being available until lockout.

The favourites will 9/10 times be the most tipped horse across the tipping field. Also means the lazy or clueless people will just tip the 'peoples favourite'.

Big mistake IMO especially given you just need winners, not good priced winners.

I like it. The markets are there for everyone to see so everyone will know who the favoured runners are anyway. I find it interesting when there are roughies that have supporters. I'm looking forward to it.

If you tipped the most popular picks last week, you'd have been bombed out week 1. I dont subscribe to your concern.
