Yeah I am with DS... couldn't get any of mine, not on its form. And at 1800m

Got me beat where the money has come from, $31 into $17. The stable might know something we don't...

It meets them all better at the weights, it's no doubt the best horse in the race. if it puts in it's best it will win. Was probably worth the gamble at the $31. IMO to win a race like an epsom you have to be able to run further than a 1600m, not just be a good miler, BP went very close in that so i'd say it would have no problems running out the 1800m.

Valid points you make. Maybe worth throwing into tris/quartets/quads

Pity the $31 is gone but

BP and Trusting been up a very long time. Just too many other horses who are peaking or still on the way up to give it a good hope. BP is a class horse but just not in top form

Watch the replay of the Railway again (the best lead-up run to this race IMO) & there's a run that stands out clearly (on a day when ground was generally hard to make-up, tempo aside).
Then for good measure, have a look at the 2008 Railway - the 4th horse puts in a carbon-copy run. From a widish draw (14) in the Fruit & Veg, it then blew them away.
I'm not saying FR is as good as Niconero - but I love it when prior history lends you a helping hand...

Aaah but you must reference that - Niconero was to meet em all better at WFA, FR meets some of em worse.

Indeed - Niconero was topweight in the Railway from memory (56.5kg?), and most others had to rise unfavourably to meet it at WFA next run.

Weight aside, I've been most impressed with every effort this prep FR, kicking off with the slashing 1st up over 1200m.
With every run its been building & building, so I'm happy to take double the price of the favourite (despite the fact its pitchforked in at the WFA conditions with 7kg relief).
It might just be something special - but lets hope we see some increased tempo tomorrow to give FR the platform to finish off...

5 of 23 is pretty good

am sure a lot of WFA Group 1's would have much less

    Not suggesting otherwise..........

I just can't come into Famous Roman as keenly as some, had two goes at this and been lapped. How many win a feature at their third go?

    Darkshines,

the Jimmy Taylor factor will make the difference in his 3rd attempt.

a lot of the form leading into this race has been in slowly run races which makes it difficult.

You can almost put a line thru the Railway form where the only one to make good ground was Famous Roman (God has spoken passed a few with FYEO aswell). Makes it a pretty good run. But his win in the Lee Steere was also off a slow pace. Maybe he just sprinted best in both races, who knows?

Colour Correct's lead ups were the Ascot Gold cup in 1.51.47, very slowly run and the Railway. Ranger's lead up was run in 1.36.25 for the 1600m. Playing God's Guineas was won in 1.36.21 for the mile and last week his 1800m was run a second slower than Mighty Rossa's race (as someone already mentioned).

Impressive jeuney is the obvious leader, but she's not one to stack them up and sprint away at the top of the lane. Then again, who is going to challenge her? There might be a few drawn wide that surprise by going forward here. My tip is Triple Honour will be right up there this week but unless IJ breaks them up, it might be pretty slowly run again.

    big day for JT
miss condition & famous roman are flying, the factor is also a good chance.
follow them and you should win for the day
  • Grand Nirvana for me, IMO will lead until IJ comes across and takes over, sits on her and has the last crack

I backed GN in the Railway and his run was huge (i think better then FR) and should be in a good position in running here from the draw and is way over the odds i will be following up hoping he runs second though :D
  • VorgtrafficVorgtraffic    1,755 posts
My problem with GN is that he's never done anything in the other KTs and this is now his third go at it.
  • darkshinesdarkshines    2,837 posts
Slow tempo will help, but I think there's a big ??? on GN getting the trip as well as others

God Has Spoken, Colour Correct and Black Piranha for me
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,471 posts
Dunno nothing but i gotta feeling for Tranquility...feel she might be something special. Yes..I know Willie picked Ranger in preference but we all know that jocks are lousy in selections.
I recall having lunch one friday with a top jock..told me he would ride 3 the next day...that he did..a different 3 incl a 33/1 pop in the distance race. :x
