The first Izmir foal is now on the ground at Rivercrest Park. An absolute cracker! very leggy bay boy. Pics to be posted soon. This is a stallion to watch people.
just a pity he is one of the growing band of hard luck stories that seem to land in WA, but then again he is from the eastern states so he must be a super sire, notttttt

Nobody has claimed that the horse is a super sire? I dont know what your problem is, seeing as you have never seen the horse I don't think you have any reason to " write him off" other than to just be nasty.
He is a lovely looking sire the only Red Ransom bloodline around but if I remember an unraced sire so he will have to do it the hard way.Good luck you never know where the champions come from.
not being nasty just honest i have seen the horse and cannot understand why rivercrest would stand him , they have two sires one who is running hot at the moment and is very underated kendel star, and black tom who deserves more support and should not have to offer free services to get mares imo
Kendal Star is very underated, I cannot understand why he doesnt get more mares. Especially after the recent wins of Mabel Grace and Even Astar. He has one of the highest ratio of runners in winners in the state and is a proven cross with the many many Tribu mares going around.
Black Tom, I was always of the opinion that he never should have gone to stud, but now I am considering putting a mare to him myself. The types of foals he is producing are just outstanding, and he really seems to be stamping his stock. I think he deserves a stud fee, but I think the plan is to stand him for free for his first 4 years.
Izmir is proving to be very popular this year, and is getting some real quality mares too, and more mars are booked in to him every time Doomsday runs a race. He is throwing big foals with some of the longest legs Ive ever seen. Unfortunatly there are not many foals of his at Rivercrest this year, the majority have been born outside the farm, but I will try to find the time this week to get some photos of them and some of Black Toms foals too. Its just hard to find the time to do at as we are so bloody busy this stud season.
Too many horses at stud in Australia already and these 'unraced brothers to something' are probably the main cause - good luck MLP, I hope he isnt like the other 99.999% of them which are woeful.
To be honest, I agree with you. But there are also many sires who were proven racehorses who have turned out to be complete failures. Izmir is producing nice tyes and has every chance, whether he succeeds or fails as a sire also depends on the mares as well. Hopefully his babies can run, but I guess we will have to wait a while before we find that out. Our problem in WA, or actually Australia wide is that too many of the "proven" stallions are closely related. There is too much inbreeding going on and the industry is screaming out for new bloodines.
I couldn't have Izmar Red Ransom or no Red Ransom.
The person that has the horse would always be the one to tell you not to breed to a unraced sire, now that they have one BINGO its the exception.
I would use Black Tom and Kendal Star to breed to race probaly BT because he is free and if i was looking at any of them i would say that my mare was poop so go the free serve.

So you would only send a crappy mare to Kendal Star? You need your head checked, he has the highest runners to winners percentage in the state.
funny how breeding works. my old man is training one out of a mare who is a 3/4 sister to asian incline. she was a handy race horse and has been to the best stallions and has bred rubbish which have had things all wrong with them. she was sent to redoutable whom i don't rate just for the sake of having a cheap serve. low and behold it came out a nice type and this thing bolts in a trial by a couple of lengths. bugger me it still has me scratching my head.
