I agree. Remembering not long ago there was no WA fixed. Things have definitely improved from where they were and I'd like to think they will continue to do so. Any word on the WA bookies being allowed to go up pre-post? I remembering hearing there were a couple applying for it.

The boys on air just made a good point about bookies arbing on Thursday's when the prices go up. This is probably why the early limits have to be set lower. Which is why I have said if you cant get on for what you want, then ring up and you will find most times PLAYER will raise the limit to allow your bet to go on.

I'm pretty much fed up with Player. I'm looking to open up a corporate account. I'm thinking about sportsbet.com.au and/or Luxbet.

Lux will let me multi just about anything and I like the look of their 'Best of the Best' product now it can be used @ Perth.

Sportsbet.com.au look to have a wider range of footy bets (but season is nearly over). Looks like you can flexi and quadde with them as well, which you can't @ Lux.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which one I should use? Or suggest another online bookie?
  • They all have a few different advantages - thats why I have money with them all :P

Unitab fixed odds are consistently the best prices on the majority of runners if you are betting up to jump time

Can we find out when Ozbet/Player will be getting a .mobi/app for it's site?

Unitab and NSW TAB have one, makes it easier to bet local if we can bet whenever and wherever we like!

Yep, my current phone is pretty slow to load the whole page etc.

Moving to an android in the next few weeks - just be nice to have a .mobi version of the site, for quick loading and simplicity!

IAS were the best until taken over by Paddy Power. Service and options still good but don't dare back too many winners or show a profit. Losers welcome at all times.

  • any chance they could explain why the have Mertens in todays jockey challenge quoted at $8.50 yet IAS and several other corporates have him at $16, almost twice their quote
Not to mention Symons at $7.50 compared to the rest who have him at $10.
Not a very hard decision to make on where to bet if one was interested in investing on this bet type.

But what were their other prices? Maybe they had the favs longer than everyone else. I always thought it was about the percentage bet overall.

You have to moniter the market and spam the refresh button lol. Dont back anything until the market has settled at around 103% pretty much. Play around with 50 cent bets to get used to the system and recognise patterns as to when things shorten and whatnot. For example its common early on for people who want to lay something to keep pushing out one other which can lead to ridiculous overs on a horse. This will happen before the market settles though. You just have to be able to know when it is happening because of this or if it is just going out to its proper price. Practice makes perfect i guess.

    Just my take on it.
  • How about this one from yesterday... A friend of mine tried getting on Harvey for the jockeys challenge a few mins before the first via his online account. He went to have $10 on him at 9's and as he went to confirm the bet and click Yes, the bet failed and come up on the bet conformation screen saying they would only allow him on for an odd amount of $4.49.

How and why this happened is just absolutely ridiculous and its not the first time its happened, I had this issue myself a couple weeks back on a midweek jockey challenge when I told my mate he looked at me like I was spinning him a lie until he experienced the exact same issue yesterday.

back to their old tricks today.
tried to have a $350 bet on a $4.60 shot. knocked back and told to ask for $275. Meantime firmed to $4.20.
asked for the suggested $275 at $4.20.
    knocked back to $156.
asked for the $156 and told the price was now $3.90.
for fhark sake......the joint is a debacle.
didnt get a cent on in the end and the price firmed from $4.60 to $3.90!

player is terrible haha. how long do you guys reckon they're gonna last!?
I bet on sport a fair bit and you GET RIPPED OFF!
I actually love sportsbet - you can have a multi with racing into sports!

Check out Player's Norm Smith medal Markets compared to the corporates - they are about two points less amoung all the main chances (Swan, Pendles, Reiwoldt etc).

One the positive side, Player let me on $150 EW on a $9.50 shot for Belmont sat. I felt sure they'd knock me back.

That is an easy question...for as long as you guys keep betting with them

  • Here is a good one

In THE GAME - they have some expert tipsters who bet for charity. One of the tipsters took a multi - yet when you actually try to place that bet you get an error saying it cannot be placed. So even the experts dont know what bets they can place.
  • Has anyone been able to multi up any feature winners in doubles etc?
melb cup into caulfield cup and/or cox plate etc, all these seem to be all in single bets only at the moment... I wonder how long until we can multi these up or would I be correct in saying probably never as the liability for them would be too great.

Yes, but you can't take the same horse in both legs - well not for the Cox/MC as no double market is up. Pretty sure they have a market up for the Cups double though.
