The question I am asking is are Perth Racing on a downward spiral at the moment? To me things are looking very bleak, prizemoney cuts to come, lots of negative press and now the only day they do get a crowd is also failing! Drastic measures need to be taken or we will be back to the early 90's when things were extremely bad.

Without being over depresive! NO. Everyone is on the down at them moment. As long as they don't become over depresive, WA is on a good wicket. But yes, they ( Perth Racing) need to take the advantage.

    Used to have Tentland.
Subtract 20,000 for that = about spot on.

p.s. Southbound "only" got 20k I 'm just reading, as well (so there's your 40k)

At around $270 a ticket - think 'Southbound' would be happy!

Been told Eskimo Joe were the highlight as of yesterday arvo  , although last night was meant to have a few big names.

As for Tentland, people that bought those expensive tickets just wanted to get as hammered as possible to justify what they had spent! Think it was lucky to last as long as it did. Just have to come up with better ways to generate income on Perth Cup day.

Still feel a festival style concert with 3-4 decent bands would be more successful - with a small cover charge, with cash bars only, portable TAB outlet, national level rock bands playing between the quaddie races and the headline act to play at sunset!

Bands? Done that...who wants an Everley Bros. cover band...
This mob will probably come up with a roving magician and a fortune telling tent... :P
Supported by dear old Olive on the piano.....

Tentland of 20 yrs ago we will never get to see again, lots of shade around the pond, sadly Liquor Laws have stuffed that area up, no shade around Tentland is a worry plus time waiting to get a drink, forget the feed itseven a longer wait, it's the old story....Good Horses bring crowds, with a Perth Cup and Ranger starting Fav, well sadly that says it all

The entertainment needs to appeal to the target audience, which would be 18-35 yr olds i'm guessing.
Kate Ceberano and Courtney Murphy don't
Whoever is booking these acts should be relieved of their duties

They wouldn't have to spend big bucks either, as they could target a band or 2 playing at Southbound to play a side gig at Ascot.
Birds of Tokyo would have got another 10k+ thru the gate
Get with the times Perth Racing :!:

A little bird told me that Tivers used to do some music wrangling.. He could be the man for the job??

As long as those two in your avatar are there, you could get Flock of Seagulls and people would come
