    His wife bought Uma Park after it won and then got the other owners in. Needs to win a few races to pay for it heafty price, but who am I to doubt the Pontiff!

    FAMOUS ROMAN Rider dropped and quickly regained his off side rein over the concluding stages and lost his off side iron near the winning post. Returned with blood in both nostrils following the race. Trainer advised that he would have the horse undergo an endoscopic examination on return to the stable to determine as to whether the bleeding was a result of an exercised induced pulmonary haemorrhage. He was of the opinion that the horse may have sustained an injury en-route to the course. He further advised that the horse was found to have no visible signs of head trauma on arrival to the course. Stewards will assess this matter after receipt of the report and consultation with the RWWA Industry Veterinarian. The subsequent Endoscopic Report from Ascot Equine Veterinarians stated that blood was present in the trachea. A Veterinary examination by Dr McMullen prior to the horse leaving the racecourse revealed no signs of any head trauma. After consideration of all reports and the relevant Rules of Racing, Stewards acting under the provisions of ARR. 53A(1) deemed the horse to have suffered an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and therefore Trainer was advised that it would now be subject to the disabilities of ARR. 53A.

    Saturday?s Group I Railway Stakes topweight Black Piranha had the clockers scratching their heads after a lackluster gallop at Ascot?s Breakfast with the Stars on Tuesday morning, but his trainer Con Karakatsanis has warned punters not to be fooled.

    The dual Stradbroke Handicap winner galloped over 1000 metres, running home the final 400 metres and Karakatsanis said, ?he was gone before the corner and didn?t break 13 [seconds for any 200 metre split]?.

    ?That work was as bad as his gallop going into the Stradbroke,? Karakatsanis said.

    ?He?s a funny horse and the worse he works, the better he races.

    ?I know that sounds stupid, but it?s true, so I?m very happy heading into Saturday.?

    Karakatsanis said the warm Perth climate is agreeing with his seven-year-old gelding that has thrived since arriving in the west last week.

    ?Every time we?ve taken him to Queensland he?s raced well and he?s loving the warm conditions over here,? he said.

    ?All the signs suggest to me he?s going to run well on Saturday.?

    Black Piranha will be ridden by talented, but wayward, jockey Daniel Ganderton who will be chasing his first Group I win in the $1 million feature.
