Head-on footage at Belmont

West Australian Racing
Watching the replays of Belmont yesterday I noticed the head-on shot in the straight is on some sort of a reasonable angle, maybe even from the stewards tower near the parade ring. I hope this isn't what they use to determine interference for policing the riders and most importantly if there is a protest!

Additionally I am a bit concerned about the stewards cautioning issued to Jade McNaught in race 2... she was pursuing a run that looked to be there but Pike seemed to shift in onto her horse which denied her the run. The stewards said she shouldn't have gone there but I think the run was there but it actually looked like Pike cut her out. Maybe it was because of the lack of the head-on vision or because Pike has assumed the diplomatic immunity that Harvey used to have!?

No pike = turnover reduced. Join the dots.

that is the worst excuse for proper stewarding I have ever heard (that if pikey is out, turnover goes down).
    Head on starts about 2.15
the run had definitely opened up. I believe mcnaught is entitled to angle for a run that has definitely opened up. This is one of the reasons I think jockeys dont ride competitively in perth. How often do you see jocks just let pikey slot in to the 1x1 on the fave when he is wide? whats wrong with driving up and holding the fave out three wide?
reprimanding jade for going for that run just verifies that no one else is allowed to ride competitively in perth.. only pikey. Ill go one step further, I have often seen the horse in jade's position put some pressure on the horse outside, in order to "finesse" the run. If she had done that in this instance... would she have been rubbed out?
If she didnt try and do what she did and she was on my horse, I'd have been livid that she didnt attempt the run. Sure, it closed up on her, but she's surely entitled to entertain it while it was there??

Interesting to see if the turnover was up for Kalgoorlie yesterday ? I tend to agree though it definitely has a bearing.

It would have been great to see an actual head on and then one could actually adjudge how much of a run was actually there. Not sure if horse was going well enough to take the gap but no doubt some other jockeys may have forced the issue and created a little more room. I thought she handled it pretty well.

Just had a thought that maybe the original location for the head-on camera has had to make way for the construction site? If so, surely some form of a replacement is necessary to overcome this. Especially since it looks like there is **** all construction actually going on and it will be a long time off being replaced properly plus a camera angle of maybe 20-degrees is hardly good enough.

Good move by the Kal race club to get him to ride on there on Sunday, they could/would have pitched it that he was due to break the record while riding at Kal.. I wonder if crowd numbers were up?
Damo - any figures or stats from Sunday mate

"good move by the kal race club to get him up there on sunday".....what a load of cr*p, he would have invited himself with that record in sight.
he'd have ridden at marble bar if it was the only meeting on sunday..

Surely if suspended, all horses would simply be transferred to Luke Fernie and it would be business as usual.

The perfect example today. Jade mcnaught on fancy fox, had pike out three wide on truly great. She snagged so hard to let him in, that the saddle shifted. Pike slotted in 1x2 and it was game over.
    I just don’t understand it :-??

I think you actually do understand it but don't condone it. It was nice of Kyra to carve up Massimo to benefit Pikey on Inspirational Girl.

I don’t understand it because In sport, I’ve always displayed a competitive (sometimes nasty) streak. It’s about winning and the other guys losing. You need to pay your opponents respect, but you never bow down to them.
Along those lines, I don’t understand why you would give your number one rival that advantage.

    Self preservation by Mcnaught.
Pikey wants the 1 x 2. Pikey takes it.
Still think about Pikey wanting the position Black Hart Bart had in the Kingston Town and we know how that ended up. Ouch !!!......There I’ve said it.

    :D

At least Mcnaught’s “aggressive restraining” was at a section of the track where no one could see it.
    Haha. Lol
    =))
