Raceday welcomes the first Group 1 of the season with the 16 highest ranked competitors getting their chance to bank big dollars in the Group 1 Carey Classic.

thefalcon started the season with an explosive start, before losing top position after a string of average weeks. He has been tenacious in restoring himself on top of the ladder and goes into this week's $25 Group 1 as favourite.

All entrants will have never won a Group race - a feat which remains with you from Raceday season to season.

In the Group 2 Jayandbron Stakes, featuring runners ranked 17-32, only Maccanic has tasted Group glory before.

Whilst difficult to feature in capacity fields, the need to perform remains evident as the Group races offer lower rated competitors the chance to shift quickly up the ladder in standard races.
