Real Love Tactics

West Australian Racing
Adam Durrant was so confident with this horse and to see him go back was sick bag material. Surely these wouldn't have been Adam's instructions. Damien has a horrendous record in the Railway for the quality of rides he has had and I just thought the ride lack initiative from him, definitely not a typical Oliver ride.

Prob wasnt allowed to and was doing what was told, by the owner.

I posted this on another thread:

I honestly thought that Oliver would have pushed fwd on Real Love; it showed versatility and strength in the Perth Cup. And going back was obviously asking for trouble.
Perhaps the problem (for the punter) is that the owner won't allow it.

The Only race that this horse has
ever led all the way was the Perth Cup 2400m
IT's normal pattern is sitting back

It was the only one possible of going forward  incredibly silly tactics that I'm sure Adam wouldn't have been happy with.

I'm well aware of that: what's your point?

Going back on that track was suicide.

Million dollar races don't come around every day.

Oliver came a long way for nothing. They could have strapped a suitcase on and done better

hang on....i'm sure bob saw the pattern and any instuctions given earlier would have been changed.

    bob is certainly no dill.

So you think they went against Bob's instructions?

not at all..i said bob may have changed his prior instructions after he saw the play of the track...

I think they thought the pace would of been on with hezza , good project ect . Hind sight is a great thing , they dawdled and had NFC from back where they were

I rate Gai's tactics. Go to the front, make the play and let the others cop the bad luck!!!!

A large percentage of trainers and owners (including leading ones) have very little idea about race tactics.

In most cases they know about their own horse but know very little about the rest of the field and how they will be ridden.

Owner and trainer instructions are very often the reasons horses get beaten.

No evidence of that. Business as usual if you ask me.

My guess is that Bob doesn't want them working too hard in the run to preserve their breeding ability.

Just a guess; I know some have that theory.

Darren called Good Project "great result" when it crossed the line.
Darren's good mate and personal defender Wes is still counting his money after the result.
Doesn't Darren have an affinity with the Peters empire ? ( I stand corrected on that one)
Peters horses were ridden not to win.
    Hmmmmmmmmm

If it had finished tailed off last, he probably would have called it a 'bad' result too. I think he was just having fun with the name. He even managed to give a nod to Greg Miles' infamous Caulfield Cup call when he fluffed the pronunciation of Delicacy :D

Heard Durrant on Melbourne radio earlier in the week; he said they wanted to go forward in the Railway but was slow away.

I'd like to think that was the plan. Must have to have another look at the start.

Sure was. And so was the track.

What did Mailman used to say about punters being bent over?

I'm not talking through my pocket, I didn't have bet but this really beggars belief.
