On 25 July 2013, The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) found Mr Cramp guilty of a charge of foul driving as a result of Mr Cramp intentionally steering his horse ‘Imtheguy’ into the horse ‘Maria Caterina’ driven by Mr Nigel Milne at the completion of Race 7 conducted on 12 February 2013.  On this date, the VCAT reserved its decision on Mr Cramp’s application for review of the penalty imposed upon him by the HRV RAD Board for this offence of foul driving.

On 1 August 2013, the presiding member of the VCAT hearing, His Honour Senior Member Nixon, released his decision regarding the VCAT review in relation to penalty.  His Honour Senior Member Nixon affirmed the penalty imposed by the HRV RAD Board and ordered that Mr Cramp’s driving licence be suspended for a period of 6 months and that Mr Cramp also be fined the amount of $10,000.  Mr Cramp’s driving suspension was ordered to commence at midnight on 1 August 2013.

Given the way almost everyone on here carried on about Panella stupidly pulling out infront of I'm Victorious; I thought for sure you would be all over Cramp for this.

Yeah he did for ages, I'm sure there's something on here bagging him though as he has done some pretty average acts as a driver since he's gone home. It's a shame Mildura is so far from anywhere so he doesn't get challenged/get to test himself in a better class. You would suspect he would have to at some stage otherwise he will end up training half all the fields out there making it hard to keep all your owners happy.

Especially here linc, where empire building via government department heads is a way of life.... It's that culture i'd be happy to see disappear if/when the TAB got sold....but what I heard about the infrastructure going forward  sounded like it may all stay in place in the background but be even less accountable than now ...if possible!!

Gee if we had another Phil O over here we'd be a lot better off...

Unbelievable that an industry (racing & harness) that generates so much $ can have insufficiencies with integrity funding. If customers lose confidence in the product they are wagering on the industry falls over. The Hong Kong Jockey Club are way ahead of us in this area

I reckon the stewards have gone soft - especially against big names

I can remember John Schreck giving 8 time winning premiership winning jockey Ron Quinton 12 months - for not allowing a horse to run on its merits - the stewards today would be too scared to do that

I can remember Ray Murrihy boasting - that on his 1st night on the job at Albion Park trots - he gave a driver 12 months - again it woulnt happen today

And the biggest lemon of the lot wasOliver = they didnt even fine him his winnings - i drove trotters in trackwork years ago - and if i had 10k on the favourite - and i was driving the 2nd favourite - i would make sure it ran into every dead end possible

You obviously don't know much about the Oliver case! Damian and his team set the penalty because there was only circumstantial evidence. If that case was tried Oliver would have won everytime and the stewards knew that.

I wonder if Nathan Jack will be arrested...

The Cramps weren't acting alone in this saga. They were given assurances don't you worry about that. At least 2 trainers in the region went to the police and all they had to do was look at the betting records to know something was wrong. Nathan Jack won't be missed for his hook Job either make no mistake about that.

I would be bullshi!!ing if I didn't say I wanted to have a pacer with cramp. Other trainers are a bit more subtle about cheating especially in the crook capital Sydney.

I went and saw the Cramps play at the Old Melbourne many years ago.

I never got cheated that night.

This just confirms how hot the "red hots" have been, and it wouldn't surprise me, that they still are. :-S

I wonder if Hally "got the lot"

That isnt a good look for Hall jnr

Thats why you have to admire blokes like Steve Turnbull and Chris Lewis - too professional and too mature to be involved in that nonsense

Its amazing the links between some participants - when Clint Hall got sprung for the EPO - the 1st person he rang was David Harding in SA - and then Harding  immediatley rang the Vic  trainer who  got outed for several years over the Blue Magic saga

After watching from Queensland the Albion Park midweeks and Redcliffe meetings the above article is no surprise...some of the things you see are mind blowing. Avoid them like the plague.

good old harness racing. ive defended it for a while but that time may now have ended.

too many "poor drives"/"dodgy driving decisions" have me steering clear now.

I think the stewards in WA if they are dilligent - should ask G Hall jnr for a please explain

It was a pretty serious matter - the Cramps got 12 years - they appealed the length ofthe sentence - and the Appeal judge noted the co- operation of the Cramps - and if it wasnt for that - he said he would added extra years to their penalty  !!! - so they probably would have got 15-20 years
