    Doesn't look good for Perth prices. I hope vendors adjust their expectations accordingly or could be a high pass-in rate

    Damian Miller just forked out $82,500 for Lot 149 a Testa Rossa Colt out of Moon River, a half to Listed winner Aeronautical. From the family of Bint Marscay & Filante.

    Peter Davenport bought lot 99 for $45,000 an Ad Valorem Filly out of Lustre

    Neville Parnham bought a War Pass Colt out of Mrs Windsor, a half sister to two Gr 1 winners, for just $30,000

    Perth Premier price?s are unrealistic for the most part. It seems the isolation makes people more prepared to pay over the odds for yearlings. If you are prepared to forego the Westspeed bonus, there are some good horses to be bought for reasonable prices.

    Until we in the West start to get serious about the quality of the Stallions we stand, and not the typical dubious draft that we have this year, then value hunters will shop elsewhere.

    With the resources available on the internet in shopping for potential stallions, how some get a start here in WA is beyond my comprehension

    Just looking at other prices (in comparison), this Jet Spur would want to be the best looking animal you'd ever seen . . . .

    60 individual winners at almost 59% winners to runners. He is one of the hotest sires in the land.

    Hallowell Stud have paid a lot for purchases in the past, by comparison they probably think this is a bargain.

    The Jet Spur's have been mostly winning in easier class races but a lot of them won early. Perhaps that was the basis of this purchase, and jump and run type runner.

    Hallowell did get lucky with probably the best horse from an ordinary bunch in King Saul. Maybe they are working on the theory that lightning can strike twice ?

    We had a few checked out by vets today, not one got passed without some problem :shock:

    Got to say that some of the pages for these yearlings today were a bit ordinary. Nothing near the quality of Sydney or Melbourne Premier Sales. You would hope that for nothing else, they are at least healthy.

    This is a far reaching comment with no facts to back up. WA is a different case study and should be taken in isolation.

    This years sale will be no different from any year, there will be plenty that sell for overs, plenty of bargains.

    Ask any of the breeders who came to us in the previous two seasons (one is a forum contributor). All were told that our Stallion has been deemed to be not a commercial prospect by others. Accordingly we ask that they are breeding to race, as all indications are that they will not be able to recover costs on a yearling that walks into the sales ring.

    As I have also said before, he is essentially a private stallion. We charge very little for a serve to him.

    My comments are directed towards those that tout their stallions as commercial prospects in the sales ring and charge accordingly.

    Gee you would just love to buy it and take him to task on that statement.

    Yep, that new accord they agreed to is really working isn't it. :roll:

    Section 52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth):
    "A corporation shall not, in trade or commerce, engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive or likely to mislead or deceive"
    Section 51A:
    "Where a corporation makes a representation with respect to any future matter(including the doing of, or refusing to do, any act) and the corporation does not have reasonable grounds for making the representation, the representation shall be taken to be misleading"

    The auction houses would never do anything that contravenes the Trade Practices Act would they..... :roll:

    As auctioneers go, David Chester is quite aggressive in his dialogue. He regularly tells off the audience as not being serious in bidding.

    We have had about a dozen inspected by vets, with only four getting the green light. This bloke is a nice compact colt and will be syndicated here in WA.

    Believe or not at their age, some have spurs. Couple with bone chips. Poor conformation etc.
    The vet inspects the xrays first if they don't pass if they have spurs or chips he goes no further. If they pass the xrays he then inspects them in the flesh and give his opinion.

    its a bit of an indictment on the selection process and the preperation of yearlings that only 33% are passing vet inspections at what is supposed to be one of the premier sales in the country :?

    I've started posting some of the yearlings heading towards the February Magic Millions Sale in Perth. This one is the half to two stakes winners and the rising superstar of WA, Barakey.
