Leading one horse at one time what a joke soon we won`t be able to walk horses, just float them everywhere-bring on the Carbon Tax

P.S The only State in Australia to do this

Having said that I recall after an incident at Randwick they limited one to one with horse & handler.
Its sort of like after there is an accident with a bus..all the bleding hearts scream blue murder for seat belts......get a life you w...ers.

Sydney riders strappers dont wear saftey vests certinly not on tvn trackwork reports show.
trainers here have very little power and very little knowledge of there horses or staff capabilites acording to work safe& club
clubs broke can pay 1 mil interest but cant make it safe for two horses to be walked to trackwork.
again little money spent on improvement of infrastructure.
I notice club haven't given explanation why.
How many clubs were you walk horses alongside traffic ,floats with horses playing up, loading & unloading cars and floats travelling at speeds without caution for horses or strappers
None to very litttle traffic control signs giving hoses right of way or to slow down between 3.30./8.30 am.
Seems to me the people who make theese decisions have little to no experience with horses.
  • Best decision the TurfClub/RWWA have made in a long time good work :D
  • what decision are you talking ?

  • To allow women to vote, what do think I was talking about! Strappers should never lead two horses at once!

well If I knew Dipchit I wouldn't have asked.

'Saw a horse gallop up the street 2 mornings ago...1 person was leading it.'

Probably a good reason why 2 horses shouldn't be led at once if it is hard enough to control one. Plus the fact that insurance companies might reneg on insurance if there is an accident.

    "a firm hold"...of what, velcrocandy?
    Can I take a guess? :P
  • horses normally walk quieter with company, absolute crap that anyone thinks its more dangerous with 2.

Now you have to write incident reports about anything that happens at trackwork, for example on track incidents or ground incidents have to be reported.
  • Well if the strapper was leading two there maybe of been two horses loose!

No you don't have to report all incidents, thats ridiculous! Welcome to the real world like every other workplace in the country!

Look at the signs, they are in English like every other workplace in the country! so even you should be able to understand them
  • Ok, that makes sense!

    I like fairy bread!
  • well that makes sense

Have noticed in the East that strappers don't wear safety vests, lead 2 at a time.
Heard that the only trainers who are against leading 2 at a time are the ones who float their horses. Lou and Trev were for leading 2 at a time but what would they know, Collie and Paul were against it but they float. Then again the trainers association is a joke, always has been, but that maybe why no one wants to be on it and they have a Real Estate agent as president.

Have clerk of course horses to help with eratic horses or horses that need company to keep them calmer plenty of ponies go to the races with racehorses even trials.
90% of horses get away from strappers that are led singular.
Any trainer worth his salt would led horses that are playful or a nutter with one strapper that why they get there brief.how they send there horses should be up to them.
How many trainers like to work there horses with company of other horse, as they are a heard animal.
  • Well I think people sitting behind desks shouldn't be able to make decisions as bad as this . Most horses lead better with company . It's going to cause more accidents as horses are left longer after they work & are worse to walk home . An absolute load of shit !!! Maybe we should bill rwwa 4 extra wages 4 staff

When your the person sitting behind the steering wheel and a 500kg piece of muscle suddenly crashes over the bonnet......because someone was leading two horses and the inevitable happened .......then tell me it's a silly rule.
    It's actually common sense.

    cheers

That was unfortunate accident . They should have better boundary fencing as if those strappers were leading only one each there would have still have lost their horses .. And then they wouldn't have made it 2 the road.. It should be up 2 the trainers if they choose to lead 2. Mine walk better in company
  • maybe they should have 2 people per horse - or even 3 - the safer the better

The horse that was hit by the Van was actually being led by 1 person, and never landed on the bonnet

I wasn't referring to any particular incident PB......just putting forward the case from a drivers point of view.
Personally, I believe one horse per person is the safest way to go.....

    cheers
