I can never understand why those in charge in W.A do not have the foresight to move race meetings  to an alternative venue, when it is apparently obvious to all, two to three days before a race meeting is to take place, that barring a miracle, said meeting will not go ahead.

Is there no track at all in or near Perth, for example, Northam, Narrogin, York, or even winter track Belmont, which could run the Pinjarra meeting on Saturday? I know that Ascot shiiiits itself with a drop of rain, so that's out, and Bunbury might be as bad as Pinny.

If there is no track available, surely, if Ascot is going to be the main track in Perth for the foreseeable future, why haven't those in charge built an all weather track inside the course proper, like we have in Geelong and Pakenham in Victoria.

This move by Racing Victoria, has saved countless race meetings in our State being postponed or abandoned time and again, and has allowed Racing Victoria to keep faith with our owners trainers and all who work in the racing industry and rely on it for their income.

When are those in charge of the racing industry in Perth, going to treat it as a business upon which thousands rely for their livelihood.

Instead they treat it as their own personal fiefdom where they can spend time sipping tea and quaffing scones in the Committee room while the industry that they purport to support, collapses all around them, and those who actually support the industry by investing their hard earned in it, and working diligently in it to support their families, are treated with a shrug of the shoulders and an, "it's raining, the track's too wet, meeting's off,bad luck"!

Pinzu was absolutely slaughtered last start, I would expect the owners to be rewarded this week. I think I said at the time that Stewards should take a look at the race with stablemate turning tables.
  • spinkingspinking    3,996 posts
Saxs if that has been put out there by PR as by your post it looks like it has. that is a absoloutly crap thing for them to do what are they **** that the progressive Pinjarra Turf Club has got the magic millions day instead of them . I hope the sun comes out early Saturday and Pini races go ahead they have a great day and break attendance records. As to you PR if that's what you put out all I can say is go suck a kinna bro

" that barring a miracle, said meeting will not go ahead."

BOM has already backed right off rain forecasts.
Now down to "rain periods / rain easing".
    And talking 1mm - 4mm Saturday, maybe.

and what rain there is - mainly to the north (of Perth, nevermind Pinjarra)

@tivers i agree. it must be the best job in the world. you get to tell everyone Armageddon is coming and when you get it wrong its OK because everyone expects you to get it wrong. So you get your pay slip and start again. Couldn't see a doctor working like that..... it may open up tonight but have had Phuc all rain in serpentine.

Rivers what about the 20-40 mil there talking about tomorrow even half of that combined with what's already fell would surely be enough to put this meeting in doubt

Sorry that should have been Tivers no pun intended

They forecast similar today - got 12mm
Also 27 degrees though (bit more drying capacity than today's 17)

is Scott Embury not doing the Turf Talk Tipping anymore??
Just in case I have copied from the Tab site.

    Scott Embry’s Pinjarra Preview

    thoroughbreds_5

    Race 1

MARTAHLIA has put together two encouraging maiden performances and gets her chance in a very weak opener on a questionable surface. Expecting a soft6 or heavy7 so playing with caution early. FAIR FOOT showed on debut that she has no issues with a rain affected track, hitting the line hard enough to suggest a win would come sooner rather than later. UNIVERSAL MAE found traffic last start and should get a cheap run. CAYMAN BOUND gets every possible chance from the inside.

    Numbers: 14 – 15 – 13 – 8

    Suggested Bet – MARTAHLIA EACHWAY

    Race 2

SPEEDING COMET takes on the older gallopers here and looks well placed to get the cash. His only run down the Pinjarra straight produced a barnstorming second placing to Gee Boss beating home Dainty Tess who boasts strong 3 year old form-lines. WAR JEUNE is yet to taste defeat first-up and resumes off the back of two very casual trials. He is a raw but talented galloper on the rise. SEEKER is one from one down the straight five. COUNT TOMOZ OFF has a degree of X-factor about him.

    Numbers: 9 – 7 – 2 – 10

Suggested Bet – SPEEDING COMET WIN

    SuperPick – Profit Plus – 25%

    Race 3

READY TO FIRE has been building to this sort of race all preparation. She is a tiny little mare who does her best work beyond 2000m and in the soft going. She gets those conditions and Chris Parnham is a positive riding engagement. I DONE IT will likely slide across the front of the field to take up the running. His track and wet going records speak for themselves, he will be in front for a long way. LE SCHILLER grows a leg and a motor in the rain, hard to ignore his booming last start victory. PUSH TO PASS is a query at the trip but has the form-lines to win.

    Numbers: 12 – 5 – 11 – 6

Suggested Bet – READY TO FIRE PLACE

    Race 4

PINZU is in career best form and while he runs into some very handy genuine 72+ types he gets the weight relief to suit. NORTH RIDGE has been knocking on the door all campaign slaving away in unsuitable Listed sprint races. This 1500m is a perfect for him. ROSMARTINI is a super talented mare, her first-up run was an eye catcher and her wet track stats do similar. POUNAMU was the punters worst enemy for almost 12 months but has now become a cult hero of the state looking to make it 4 wins from his last 5.

    Numbers: 10 – 4 – 14 – 3

    Suggested Bet – PINZU EACHWAY

    Race 5

ELLICAZOOM is a classy filly who comes up against a very underwhelming field and on the weights should simply be far too strong. Has beaten the likes of Caipirinha, Lusaha, Saul’s Special and Whispering Brook. If she is anywhere near fit she holds a mortgage over this race. ENCHANTED DREAM is a filly on the rise and if this race was 1400m could make it interesting but over the shorter course most would expect the favourite to be too strong. DIAMOND PRINCESS is drawn to lead and is both a Pinjarra and soft track winner. AKIKO could add value to exotics.

    Numbers: 8 – 10 – 9 – 11

    Suggested Bet – ELLICAZOOM WIN

    Race 6

KRAKKA VISION returns to the track fresh off a 2 month let up after contesting the Listed mares feature events over the summer carnival. She is super talented, however, like most of the fancies drawn awkwardly. ANOTHER VISION has reeled off some very impressive sectionals in strong races this preparation, her effort in the Bunbury Sizzle was eye catching and appeals at odds. MISS SONDRIO was knocked off her perch last start for the first time this campaign after notching four straight victories. She is an exciting type. SHE’S A VIRTUE has been out of the money for a long time but drawn perfectly and well weighted she can lead and give cheek.

    Numbers: 5 – 14 – 6 – 4

Suggested Bet – KRAKKA VISION EACHWAY

    Race 7

KENTOO was a super impressive debut winner at Ascot last weekend and off a 7 day break he can go very close to keeping his undefeated record intact.  Undeniably talented youngster who looks as though he will improve with racing and distance. ACHERNAR STAR is the perfect juvenile galloper, well build, well educated and mature. He deserves to be favourite and the only legitimate concern is the barrier. THE SHOE is a stable mate of on top selection Kentoo and comes to the races after a freshen up.  Still very green so senior rider on is a massive plus. MY DEMI looks the winner last weekend before being swamped.

    Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5

    Suggested Bet – KENTOO EACHWAY

    Race 8

RED PADDY is one of the most consistent horses in WA and if he can reproduce anything like his emphatic win last weekend he will go close. RED PUBLISHER is always around the mark and his form around Settler’s Creek is arguably stronger than most of these. NATURALISTE looks one as though he will get a soft run just behind the leaders from barrier 1 and can give another cheeky sight at big odds. GATTING was all the rage last start with punters climbing out of trees to jump aboard but things fizzled out pretty quickly. Drops back sharply in distance but must respect him.

    Numbers: 9 – 7 – 16 – 15

Suggested Bet – RED PADDY EACHWAY

    Quaddie

    8 / 4, 5, 6, 14 / 1, 2, 3 / 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16 .

Gray I am having trouble reading that preview  :-B

Probably a bit early to tip not knowing track condition but I think Max Almighty will run a big race fresh in the last race. It would not surprise me if Dawn Approach improves dramatically in the same race.

I dont think they'll be racing at Pinj hash. Last 24 hrs they've had 70mls.
DMAC's property (not that far away) had 100mls+ and the joint is underwater

If they have had that much, they should call it I reckon.

So the issue is the track being to bog? If so, race on a heavy 10 no problem.. As long as the weather, wind and conditions are fine which they are forecast to be then there's no issue
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts

^^ Sheesh mate you despo for a local bet OWAT... Lol
(plenty of very good racing at Caulfield Hash)

heavy racing equals a lottery..still think it may be abandoned but if not i'll be treading very warily like more than half the horses who don't like conditions that may be more suitable for pigs...

    :D

He's desperate for his horse to run more so.
But considering he's barely 15HH standing on his toes, with feet the size of a geisha..........You got be careful what you wish for.

You can watch races from a boat.

Not expecting nothing tomorrow (performance wise) just need the run in his legs going fwd
Even blind freddy knows a horse dropping back from 1800 to 1200m in one run in the space of 3 weeks has little to no chance of winning
