Have sent an email to the Gabba..."Suggest you save on 40 airfares and accommodation and stay home round 1 and cop the fine for the forfeit". I thought West Coast would have a tough draw on the back of making the GF last year...and they start off at home against the Lions. Without Beams and Zorko and a few other that can catch a kick a little bit, this could be a 30 goal blow out. What a hopeless mismatch ...Brisbanes pre season form has been uninspiring to say the least yet good enough to give Leppitch a contract extension....absolute basket case.

They do play four top-8 teams from last year in the next four rounds.

    R2 Hawthorn (MCG)
    R3 Fremantle (Domain)
    R4 Richmond (Domain)
    R5 Sydney (SCG)

Have to agree with you on that one, should be a really good game. Bulldogs (based on last year's form) will be hard to beat at Etihad, but it is always harder to work out proper formlines for Round 1 with only the NAB Challenge games as a guide. Take last year for example when the Bulldogs (who a lot of the pundits were tipping to finish near the bottom of the table last year) beat West Coast in the first round at Etihad.  Bouncedown will be at 10:10 WST.

Having said that the Easter Monday game should also be worth watching.  Dangerfield's first AFL game for Geelong.  It will be interesting to see how much Geelong have improved from last year with the recruitment they did over the off season.  Any tips or thoughts for Round 1?

    Very average team yes.
Half of them were watching from the stands.
Shocked we won at all with that many out injured.

Really liked what I saw from Carlton last night, let themselves down in the last quarter, but think they'll win a few games this season!

If a player like Waite or Betts was there, game would have been done and dusted at half time.
    End of story!!

If super coach Bully Boy Malthouse was still at Blues land, they wouldn't have played like that. What a waste of money that appointment was. They actually seemed to be enjoying their footy, there was evidence of a more "risk and reward" game plan rather than just defend until you get massacred and although I'm no blues fan, I found it refreshing to watch. Of course, Levi still can't kick and Bryce Gibbs continues to be an imposter but, yes, encouraging. They dominated all the stats in the first half but not enough ability to capitalise.

Likewise if Deledio, Maric, Conca, Yarran, Grigg (plus Rance and Edwards limped through) were there on the flipside.

We've really struggled last couple of seasons when either Deledio or Maric were out.
To have them both out, and still get up - a big win in my books. (I thought we were no chance).

Yarran is a fruitcake,Grigg average player at best.
    No chance at $1.26?

Check the stats of games won / lost with Lids / Ivan missing.
You'd have to be mad to take $1.26 on a horse with such terrible form.

Which was proven correct - 9 points hardly a $1.26 victory.

Would you honestly say that Maric ,Conca ,and Grigg are above average players  and a they are  differance between winning and loosing and the stat about Deledio mmmm and Yarran well he is what he is i suppose all the ability in the world  but nothing between the ears   ,wins a win i suppose my point was you couldnt be happy beating a low rated side like the Blues by such a small amount  but you bank 4 points and Hardwicke is king of the castle lol lol

You can not have a big win against Carlton, even if all 42 on the list are out!

Jarrod Waite is a Sook and Good riddance we got rid of him. Betts wanted to much $$$$ and it's now proven he probably deserved what he was asking for. (we pay Daisy $800k)

Yes we have lost numerous players that would make our list look better. But the players that have gone were very BAD news around the club. Were  self indulgent and wrapped up too much in themselves.

Malthouse had no game plan apart from unattractive Man on Man. The one good thing he did do at our club was too start to change the culture a little bit by starting to get rid of those players. Andrew Mckay has also had a big say in who went and who stayed, Bolton has come in and bought a new game plan, that is great to watch and gives us supporters something too look forward to on weekends now. The young players around the club hang of his every word. Which is a sign they believe in what he is presenting them.

over the last 3 years the Blues have slowly become more professional around the club and have weeded out the bad eggs. On ability these players would be a walk up start in our side, but what they bought to the club outside of the field was not acceptable.
