R1. Westspeed 3yo Plate - Scott Embry
Looking to open by Birthday with a treat and playing Kia Ora Koutou. I was unsure just how good that first-up debut win at Pinjarra was but then an effortless Saturday win has me convinced this is a good one. Again my concern is barrier 1 and the fact that Pike may get rolling on See Me Sizzle before the bend and have the momentum but I think Kia Ora Koutou has a lot of potential and should be making it 3 from 3. See Me Sizzle the only real danger and obvious quinella horse. Juicing Carrots looks a real grinder and will get a mile with absolute ease.
1. KIA ORA KOUTOU - 2. SEE ME SIZZLE - 4. JUICING CARROTS
SUGGESTED BET - 1. KIA ORA KOUTOU $80

Currently loving the Pike-Peters-Williams/Durrant Juggernaut and they are really starting to roll out some nice types. Recent debut winners include Perfect Reflection, Petite Charm and then promising debuts from Impassioned, Total Eclipse and State Solicitor just to name a handful of 3 year olds. Dark Love was heavily supported in early Northam markets before being withdrawn and saved for a crack at Saturday company suggesting the full sister to multiple Saturday winner Dark Miss will be hard to beat. Mystic Maid and Bombs Away should ensure a genuine pace is set and I think Pike can pounce over the top to notch yet another Cerise and White Win.
8. DARK LOVE - 1. MYSTIC MAID - 2. BOMBS AWAY
SUGGESTED BET - 8. DARK LOVE $25 x $25
Speculating another sharp improvement from highly speedy type Real Icon. Azzopardi can fly the gates and should find the fence with ease without a lot of pressure and from there if he can give the Statue of Liberty Gelding a mid race breather should be mighty hard to catch fourth up from a spell. Both career wins have come at 1200m at Belmont Park and assuming we are faced with our weekly leader bias I think he is worth at least a places ticket. Roman Fighter is an up and coming galloper who will appreciate being ridden off the pace and allowed to rattle home late. Hoping Brett Pope is unharmed after a reported accident en route to the Northam Races on Thursday. Prohurst Express looks well placed.
7. REAL ICON - 6. ROMAN FIGHTER - 2. PROHURST EXPRESS
SUGGESTED BET - 7. REAL ICON $20
This looks an absolute peach of an assignment for Perth Turf Talk owned galloper Essayez and young trainer Martin Allan. First time I've put him on top so I hope he can carry my extra 60kg but I genuinely believe this is a perfect race for the 3 year old Excellent Art filly. Taking on the older gallopers with a mere 54kg of in-form apprentice Johnson-Porter she should go close to making it 4 wins from 7 starts. I'll certainly have some coin on her. Planet Claire owned by Punta's very own Diva looks a genuine danger after recapturing her form of 2013. Of the rest Secret Minx is lightly raced but looks to have ability.
3. ESSAYEZ - 2. PLANET CLAIRE - 11. SECRET MINX
SUGGESTED BET - 3. ESSAYEZ $25 x $25
Sticking with my love affair with DMac and Jordy Turner in the opening leg of the quaddie. Military Ruler got the job done for us last start with a very strong win over 1650 and with only 53.5kg on his back looks mighty hard to run over again. This is probably a stronger grade but I don't with only Dabang likely to provide any opposition in terms of speed he should get the sofest of runs in transit and can get the job done again. Thunderclap Newman for mine is a slight questionmark at 1650, still think he is more of a 1400m horse. Would also love to see S.O'Donnell return to the saddle. Halo Express has won 2 on the bounce and is the class runner in the field.
7. MILITARY RULER - 3. THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN - 1. HALO EXPRESS
SUGGESTED BET - 7. MILITARY RULER $25 x $25
Best race of the day for mine and I'm putting Petrol Power on top. He has been super consistent this preparation with a victory, bridesmaid and third placing coming from his past 3. Drawn in 6 and carrying only 57kg for Mitchell I think he will be hard to hold out. Benito should be about ready and no doubt David Harrison is waiting for a 72+ 1000m so he can grab a winners cheque. Woolibar looks like a 1200m horse and should be suited. Battle Hero returns and is the winner of 4 from 6 but I do think will be better suited over further and may just find a few of these a bit slick. Think any of numbers 2-6 can win.
2. PETROL POWER - 5. WOOLIBAR - 3. BENITO
Caralabek looks a very handy stayer in the making for team Durrant and this looks a perfect Midweek quality Saturday assignment. These 60+ events are full of battlers and I think Caralabek has the best turn of foot and upside to any galloper engaged so I'm happy to be playing. Debut win over a mile was excellent, stuggled in the downpour second-up and then returned to his best at Pinjarra. Randy Tan will run them along with Successful Spin who was scratched from a winnable Wednesday race to be saved for this and Caralabek should be able to pounce on them. I see stablemate Pants on Friar as the biggest danger, racing well below her best but can improve sharply back to this grade. Rare Selection is a miler for mine but Wolfe continues to stretch him out. He is quality but tested at the journey.
5. CARALABEK - 1. PANTS ON FRIAR - 4. RARE SELECTION
SUGGESTED BET - 5. CARALABEK $50 x $50
Another Adam Durrant up and comer is The Forgotten One. He looks to be screaming out for every inch of 1650 and this is only a moderate Saturday line up. He looked the absolute best bet on the card at Northam on Thursday before being saved for this and he should be mighty hard to hold out. Will settle back in the field but has a sharp turn of foot and an engine to match. Vanrippa has W.Pike on but I'm not sold on him at 1650, prefer settling back in the field and running home over 1400m. Bedamijo will give cheek out in front as will Sandpipers. They are both tough on pacers who The Forgotten One will need to run over the top of.
12. THE FORGOTTEN ONE - 1. BEDAMIJO - 5. SANDPIPERS
SUGGESTED BET - 12. THE FORGOTTEN ONE $50 x $50
