Looks like a nice card, but very small field in the first race!

1000m sprint, only 7 runners - with most of the nice sprinters going up to the 1400m of the Scahill. Shining Knight should go well on his Winterbottom run!  Benito stepping up in grade.

Other thoughts outside of the KT?

Lucciola will be extremely hard to beat. But Miss Rose Delago from barrier 2 and berry on looks an out and out special

She will need to bring her 'A' game on Saturday Shovhog. The jockey & barrier are both spot on, but carrying 59 kilos (whilst giving away 4 kilos to the rest of the field), will certainly be a challenge for her to overcome.

    shes only got 55kg, raff.
her record at ascot is not flash and I feel she is not quite up to these...could be wrong, of course...I have been in the past.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same horse Falc. I was referring to Miss Rose Delago in the Jungle Dawn ;)

Just noticed the Towton Cup is being run as the Queen's Cup this year.  It is being run as a Group 3 this year (The Towton Cup is still a Listed race)

Queen's Cup - "First held in 1927 as the King's Cup, this race is contested in each state in rotation."

Towton Cup - "Mr. G.A. Towton owned and trained six Perth Cup winners between 1888 and 1897.
He also rode the winner of the 1892 Perth Cup on WANDERING WILLIE"

Some interesting information (to my knowledge this is the race being referred to):
    King's Cup[edit]
During the 1930 Adelaide Cup Carnival, that was held in May at the time, the SAJC inaugurated a race known as the King's Cup run over a distance of 1 1⁄2 miles which was won by the famous Australian champion Phar Lap.[8] But by next year the race was missing from the carnival and was not seen again until 1936 when Donaster won the race over the same distance.[9] After the World War II the race was renewed in 1948 when Valcurl was victorious.[10] However, the next time the race was run in 1954 the race was known as the Queen's Cup and the winner's trophy was presented by Queen Elizabeth II who was present in Adelaide.[11] The name of the race has since been called the Queen's Cup. The race has maintained its Group 3 status even though it has been run sporadically. In 1990, 2003, and 2008 the race was held at Cheltenham Park.[12] The 1996 December race was run over a distance of 2000 metres[13] and in 2008 the distance was 2414 metres.[14]

MRD has a tough ask hasnt had the best preps maybe taking her east last time in wasnt such a great move as her best result this time in is a dead heat with Wroughted  ,IMO ,Real Charm goes ok and if she has come through that massive win last sat has to be a chance  and the run of My Sister Lil was massive 1st up

Cool Trade will certainly be hard to beat Dungy, but I do have a small query on dropping her back to 1000m's. She might just get run off her feet a little bit having never won over the distance. Mind you, she has only had 1 start over the distance and came in 2nd on debut. Apart from that though, I think she will be right in the finish for sure.

Shining Knight should beat that lot in the first, even with the 59kg?

Magnifisio to be too good again, loved the last two wins, even though I havent been on.

I'm expecting sharp improvement from Classique Ivory in the Queens Cup en route to a Perth Cup

Outlaw Pete will probably get me again. Hero to Villain last 2 outings.

Question : Why would the connections move Son of Something from Durrant to Warwick?

Please dont jump on Mgnifisio now Bomber, she's been carrying me, not sure she can take too much more weight of expectation than that!!!!

The SOS situation was discussed somewhere else and it was done by mutual agreement... Or owners not happy and moved him...

Thought as much. Maybe the owners thought it should go to the PC and the trainer opinion was different?

I agree about the dropping back to 1000m bit. She was nommed for the mares 1400m race so I'm assuming that was the original plan. As such you'd also assume she was being trained to get 1400m.
Nor sure what sort of odds she will be but I'm thinking there'd have to be a knock on it this week over the 5f

Happy to take Real Charm on.
May have won by 7L, but in a time that was no quicker than the preceding race which was ran at a farcical slow pace.
Massive jump in grade here from a 60+ to a 78+

Im a bit iffy with it as well loved it last week but backing up after winning by 7 and sitting 3/4 deep ,the other Real horse wins by panels will bolt in and march on towards the Cup going from 1400m out to 2200m is a worry but AD said no problem its an out and out stayer   Real Love get in the line

Couldn't agree more. If berry rates MRD at an even pace she should be far too good. $5.5 is big price.

just had a good look at the KT while having a sambo...
moriarty...15 runs without a decent spell (yes, I know, waller knows his trade), coming out of a CC preparation..did nothing in the mackinnon. 1 win from 6 tries at the 1800m. could be at the end of his rope.

    chester road..never won beyond 1400m

    respondent...great chance.

pheidon...do not think he's up to the class.

    pop culture...loves the 1800m 4 out of 6 goes...query though.

balmont girl...the fresh legs of the race. great railway run...my choice.

    tread your own path... ;)

    the live chanced imho.
    classique ivory..expect big improvement
    global flirt
Kirov boy (don't laugh, mighty run last week)
    lucciola....just sneaks in
real love...don't really like her at this stage..only 3 runs since m id October, jumping from 1400m to 2200m..i think you'll see her peak in the 1st jan.
red blast...freshened up since the kal. cup...2 mighty runs on the 8th and 22nd of this month. absolutely cherry ripe..my choice.
